Left lane hoggers

Anyone have a problem with left lane hoggers?

Today on the way back home I encountered two cars (two lane) going side by side doing 50km/h...right at speed limit. Personally I don't have anything too major against people going at speed limit, but it really annoys me when I see people hogging the passing lane when he's not passing nobody. Those two lovebirds pretty much hold up twenty cars behind them.

So with all that rage inside me, I did something very mean (but I did not regret it). I tailgated that car on the left lane for about 5 minutes (no joke, it was about 5 minutes). After a while the right lane was open but he still stayed in the left lane going about 40 now. I got too irritated that I overtook him and went 30 in front of him...kinda giving him the taste of his own medicine. He still wouldn't go to the right lane though, so I slowed down to 20. After awhile I felt like my rage is decreasing, so I just went back to normal mode and head back home...

I feel alot better typing the whole story out...

I cant stand those ppl. They wont move for anything. I was in a ambulance one night. They wouldnt move to the right lane. So I flipped my red lights on and the swerved over pretty quickly. We werent in a big hurry. Just did it to make a point.

 

Well, to play devil's advocate, unless it's posted for them to move over they have as much right to be in that lane as anyone else - especially doing the speed limit. Different state laws may vary.

While I agree it can be irritating, sometimes you just gotta let it go. What you did wasn't very smart. You never know who may pull a gun on you (or worse) for doing something like that.

 

It's not against the law, but it's definitely in the book when they test for the license. These things are kinda like peeing in the men's washroom. We always leave a space between two guys peeing. It's not against the law, but we just do it so others feel more comfortable.

Yes, I agree my EQ dropped a few hundred points there at that moment. But I was kinda sure he wouldn't have a gun. It's very unlikely someone would have a gun in their car in Canada, at least where I live. I actually wanted him to pull over so I can have a chat with him. Teach him the correct way to maintain a healthy tempo for everyday traffic.

 

NJ has the worst drivers!!!!!!!!! MD people would move, PA people would move. NJ people are so f31y74qfeoyhvcewfadbvcusdfabvc up!!

funny this thread came up, i've been having problems all week with idiots doing ten under the limit in the hammer lane. and its not even like they're passing anyone, just putzing along like they're on a safari or some BS. i mean its common knowledge that the left lane is either for people to pass others in, or if you want to go fast. why some people need to clog the fast lane by going UNDER the speed limit is beyond me....

 

I am glad I was not that person or you would've been looking for a bodyshop for your car. It idiots like you who make the road unsafe. Thank you. And I would love to see you stop and "talk it out" with some people in today's society. They'll be the last ones laughing.

If that guy wasn't clogging the left lane at the first place, this wouldn't have happened. Let me guess, you drive a mini van to take your daughter to soccer practice?

 

I usually see Prius, or Echo going at the speed limit on the very left lane...pisses me off...

It is actually illegal in many states to drive in the left lane for more than a pre-determined distance. The left lane is not provided to add an additional lane to mainstream traffic, but allow for faster traffic to advance past the rest of the drivers.

 

we get those a lot here in PR. Actually, when I was coming to work, I had to zig-zag the whole time because of this idiots. Boils my blood!

 

I do think that what OP (chineseguy) did was wrong, slowing down to block that driver and others on the road just to give himself some laugher out of it.

I've done it too, I even go lane to lane to block that idiot, but im older and wiser now, so I won't do what he just did. usually I flash my hi-beams and they move, 5min late is better than a crash b/w cars, get prolice involve, insurance involve, who knows 5min of trouble could be so much. then court???!!!

 

meh i wait a few mins then flash to pass. if that dose not work i toot the horn. if that dont work I toot longer. still nothing i just find away around them eventually not a big deal really just annoying.

Guns aren't allowed in Canada, so is most weaponry.

I hope you weren't on the left lane going 50km/h and not willing to move...I'm sure my brakes can handle some 50km/h stopping b4 hitting you...

It's against the law in Ilinois if someone is behind you trying to go faster. But, people still do it and I can't stand it. Espeacially on the highway.

 

Wow...left lane only for turning? So you can't even pass?
