Posted this on AGO already, but figured I'd share here too.

Got about 4-5 hours of sleep last night, offered my friend some polishing help today and was a bit lazy with clean up. Didn't put the DA away in time, and my mom came home earlier than she usually does and didn't see the Griots while pulling in. Ended up running over the bottom black housing. The Polisher still works, so I called Griots for a replacement part, and they said unfortunately they don't sell/supply that piece. The Polish is all but 4 months old. Still works, not asking for a new unit, just a $3 piece of plastic which they said they cannot replace and I'd have to buy a whole new unit....

    Heres the pics

That looks salvageable. Time to get some JB Plastic weld, put it somewhat back together and make the best of a bad situation.

It may not look great...but at least it still works.

    Improvise, adapt, and overcome! :shead:

Ya worse comes to worse I'm gonna save up for a rotary or a flex and try to salvage it. Just a little disappointed by the support I received from a company who holds their service so high...it's such a cheap fix too....

Maybe shop for a person with a well used one or even a broken one you can salvage parts from for cheap. Sucks though... I always worry about my wife pulling into the garage and taking out my stuff... she is not the worlds best driver.

That's why I love Makita and Porter Cable and many other big names....You can look up the schemastics online and order every individual part down to a 5 cent washer if you need it..Griots can get that piece and should get it and offer replacemant parts..They are doing this so they can sell you another one..I pretty much have ecery polisher there is out there except theirs...I was thinking about completing my collection this year by buying theirs..Now that I know this, I won't buy any of their stuff...You just cost them at least one sell.

    Thank you,
    Sean,,,

Thats terrible service. I'd call back and ask for a supervisor. Ask for the name of the manufacturer so you can order the piece yourself if they won't help you.

I'm done with Griots products forever. Pleaded very politely only to be refused again. How can you treat a customer this way, I don't know but it's definitely not right.

That's unbelievable!! I can't fathom that they have a customer service system in place that is geared around 'not helping the customer'. It's such a small part, your willing to pay, what the hell, sell the part!

Take DeWalt for example...The brushes went on my DA, called them up....they sent me two new brushes at no charge. ( Plus the chick on the phone was quite nice to talk to. :applause2:)

I would call them back...talk to a supervisor again, explain the situation....this time tell this person that you are part of a very large detailing forum, and they are getting a ton of bad publicity because Griots won't/can't sell you a simple plastic housing. See what he has to say about that!!

    I personally would make this a crusade!!:bs:

Sad that it would have to come to holding something over their head like that but if thats what it takes, so be it.

I agree, but I know this thread and the one on AGO is not helping their cause.

It's sad I've bought numerous products from them, including pads, chemicals, this DA and the 3 inch and they don't have the decency to take care of their customers, and I'm 100% willing to pay. It's a bit over the top to have to pay for a whole new unit when all mine requires is a cheap plastic housing.

I truly did like their company before this mishap, but I refuse to ever purchase one of their products again.

Griots and Autogeek have rectified the situation, and above all expectations.

They offered me a brand new polisher.

You had to send this one back tho didnt you? or did they pay for return shipping?

Cool that it finally happened, but they should have just let you buy the piece in the first place...
