Ok my first paintcorrection besides my own vehicles is this weekend. It is a White F 250 Diesel. I checked it out and gave him my price and it looked like just normal washing introduced swirls. I was gonna Wash, clay, and then use menz pg with a white pad. Do you think this is enough cut? Or should I step up to M105? I would prefer to stick with a one step paint correction if possible since thats what he kinda paid for. What do you recommend:100post:
I think powergloss as it is a heavy compound it will leave behind some marring even with a white pad. I would use Menzerna PowerFinish if you have any for a one step, if you have some Uber Green or LC Green Course pads they will cut even better and finish LSP ready. M105 on a white pad is not too aggressive, as M105 is very pad dependent so if you dont have any PF or cant get any try M105/LC White and see kind of finish it leaves.
Lol sorry I meant PF! So my LC with PF should be lsp ready right? Any need to add a glaze then wax and sealant?
Yes, LC white + PowerFinish will get you LSP ready, no need to glaze, just IPA wipedown after polishing and go on to your LSP. I would get some Uber Green pads if you going to be using Powerfinish alot as that combo is deadly good!
You will not finish LSP ready using a white CCS pad. It will leave behind slight marring that may not be very noticeable to the "non-detailer" and on a white car, but it will still be there. If that's fine with the customer, then go for it! As Patel said, a green CCS pad would be better as it will leave behind less marring.
You might also look into some green Gloss It pads, they also finish down nice with PF. Ken (911 Fanatic) here on the forum carries Gloss It.
Yea, you can. It depends on the clearcoat hardness, and how you break it down but it is 100% possible. OP, just do test areas with IPA wipes and see what works best, there is no correct answer to what pads/polish you should use, only recommendations. White/203S should be sufficient though.
Thanks for the help guys! I already have my white pad so I will probably just use that. If needed i can finish it down finer with 85rd I doubt it will be needed though. How durable would 2 coats of jetseal topped with zaino be for a LSP?
