Took my car to a coin op car wash. i can tell you're cringing already. I just wanted to take the dirt and salt off. I shoulda stopped after spraying it down but no, something made me grab the innocent-looking brush and scrape it all over my car. So instead of swirl marks i now have long streaks scratched into the paint.

It was one of those "what was i thinking" moments. i guess i like learning the hard way.

Now how could you pick up that brush! It is not some innocent brush but a rabid beast that just wants to attack your paint and make it look ekk! haha

You Punishment: Polish the car by hand!

I just wanted to let you know that I used that same brush to scrape all the mud and small rocks and asphalt from my undercarriage on my truck earlier that day!

i was penny pinching once so i cleaned my car with the little water that comes out of the nozzle in the winter to keep it from freezing and used the soapy water in the bottoms of the bush container to wash my car. oh man was that a mistake wait for my write up on the SC im shure there is damage

If you must use the dreaded coin op brushes you should use the pressure nozzle to rinse it off thoroughly first. Still yet, you are bound to get some damage from it.

+1. Although I would say you are better off just using the pressure washer. That's all I use, then go home for the ONR wash.

yep i use the pressure washer to get as much of the trash off and then ONR with hot water...you get funny looks for sure

Considering all of these places recycle the water, I won't even use the pressure washer for that reason. I just stay far far away from them.

That's not entirely true. for example, the coin op car wash at which I use the pressure washer, is just tied into the municipal sewer system. There are 2 options in MN for the wastewater: Municipal sewer hookup or reclamation system.

You may want to check your local codes to make sure you are making a correct assumption.

the only time ive been to a coin op was after i was following a truck that had leaked some kinda goop on my car. but even then i was very iffy about using their water to do a rinse off.

My small group leader at church doesn't care about his car at all, so we wrote all over his windows with car chalk. He freaked out a bit but wasn't really pissed. Anyway, he went to wash it off at the gas station with the squeegees they have there, and then proceeded to wash the entire car with one :yikes: The paint looked horrible beforehand, I could see the swirls under all the crud on it.
