Did this detail over Friday afternoon and then onto Saturday. Friday was interior only as I had a minor detail that morning, and then spent, oh 6 hours or so just on the exterior. But it was a fun detail non the less. Day 1: Interior Vacuum Apc wipe down on all interior plastic surfaces. Used the AG High-tec cleaning pad which is awesome. 3m scour pad on the lower panels. Various brushes and edge detailing swabs. Leather seats got CG Leather Cleaner+ and boars hair brush and then dressed with Showroom FX Leather cream Interior Plastic dressed with Meg's #40 and a MF towel. Interior glass got Showroom FX glass cleaner via their glass towel and the buffed with blue surgical towel Carpets pre-treated with Zep High Traffic and then extracted. Weather Tech floor mats soaked in APC, then cleaned with meg's slide lock brush and wiped with several mf's Befores: Afters:
Engine: Removed exposed air filter and blew out with air compressor, full of dirt and bugs! Covered port hold with some mfs, then pre-soaked with Super 43 apc, I then power washed to activate the apc and worked with various brushes. Soaked again then re-agitated. Rinsed a final time then blew off the excess water before dressing with White Pearl. Wheels: Pre rinsed, then soaked with Pacific Products Wheel Brightener. Agitated with various brushes. Re-rinsed and once the truck was foamed I also do the wheels to neutralize the acid in the wheel cleaner. Used compressed air to blow out excess water in the lugs. Polished with CG Xtreme Metal shine via 3 stage foam app and the Mother Cone, which came in real handy. After about 30 minutes I topped off with BF Metal Sealant via 3 stage foam app and buffed off with various mf's Tires and Wheel Wells: Both pre-rinsed and then soaked in Showroom FX Super 43 apc un-diluted, and boy does this stuff eat dirt! Wheels scrubbed with a stuff brush and wells I used a black schmitt and various other brushes. Rinsed all the dirt off and both were eventually dressed with Showroom White pearl! Wash process: I first did a quick rinse, then soaked each door and bedside of the truck with Super 43 to break down the grime that was STUCK to the paint. In no less than 30 secs, I re-rinsed the area and it came completely off! Pre-treated the front end and windshield with LA's Awesome APC for bugs. Foamed up with a mixture of Powermax3 and Showroom Citrus wash and went to town. In my wash bucket I had grit guard of course, red ulti-mitt, lc blue grout sponge, pinnacle sponge and the ever so popular swissvax wheel brush!! I was a panel, then ring out my wash media before I put it back in my bucket. I feel it's just as effective as two bucket method. After all washing was done, did a final rinse. Claying: Started out with RC yellow, but then switched to RC blue as it was more effective. Used undiluted QD as lube. Paint cleaner: Mixture of CG Acrylic Shine II and Meg's D151 via flex and green pads on speed 4 LSP: BF AFPP via gold ccs pad and PC on speed 3 Befores: AFTERS!! After cure time I did a final wipe down with DG AW
Mike, it looks great man! Just curious, have you tried that blue Race Glaze interior pad that Ken sells yet? They're awesome for interiors, especially leather that's really dirty. Nice job all around.
Not trying to take a stab here Mike but using compressed air is not the correct way to clean a K&N type filter and can actually damage it. http://www.knfilters.com/cleaning.htm I always have a cleaning/re-oiling kit with me for this reason.
Thanks Makes yours look like a Tonka truck! haha just kidding. see you need a lift and some 35"s Thanks, the wheels were a labor of love. I actually upsold the polishing and protection package of the wheels. I only charged $75, but should of done like $125 Yea, the tuesday before it had snowed so that made it worse, plus it had some yellow lookin crap stuck to it. But that Super 43 stuff made short work of it! Huge is an understatement. I had to use my step ladder, that's crazy! The engine was pretty easy to clean, reaching it was the problem... but using the daytona wheel brushes take a lot of the work out of it! Thanks JL, I love doing trucks like this!
