Saw these on POTN tonight. They're pretty awesome. Awesome infrared ruined castles - Canon Digital Photography Forums
You have to have an infrared filter or have a camera converted to shoot IR. IR is pretty cool. One site I saw that does the conversion cost $425. You can find one on POTN from time to time for about that price. Once you get it switched over to IR, thats it.
Hey Jordan, i'm not really sure yet. I'm gonna have to do some research on this stuff. I know you can buy the filters on any site (amazon, adorama, bhphoto). They're pretty expensive. Anywhere from $50-200 depending on brand and other crap I dont know how to explain.
The guy is using a R72 (not sure what brand) on an unmodified 30d. You can have a camera modified for IR shots but its kinda high. I believe its a company called Live Pixel. Occasionally you'll run across a camera on POTN thats been coverted for sale.
I mean there is a significant amount of editing to these pictures as well as the filter im sure right? I did a little research and straight out of the camera pictures look odd...but then again im so new at it everything looks odd to me
From what I'm reading Jordan, alot has to do with leaving the shutter open for 30 seconds or more. That is if you dont have the camera converted. I think ppl that are getting the filters and are just starting are having their photo's have a red/maroon look to them. There is a feature on Photoshop you can use to create this effect iirc.
