personally i wouldn't buy a kit. It might seem like a good deal but in the end it's them putting stuff together for you.

I believe that you can get better products and ones that you can Taylor more to your vehicle for the same if not similar price.

Might want to look into the Meguairs G110 v2 instead of the PCXP and for pads check out Phil over at Detailers Domain for some nice flat pads. The CCS pads arn't that good.

Where do you suggest they offer the better prices of me tailoring my own "kit"? I've been hearing good stuff about Meguairs 105/205 combo but im confused about the pads. Im newbie and thought LC pads were good. Which pads do you recommend for PC?

Well LC pads are good . . . . LC started the CCS design pads which are the ones that come in the kits you were looking at. The thing with that is they were designed to trap polish in the cells so you could disperse more polish if needed later by pushing down on the pad. Problem with that is sometimes new polish is introduced to the vehicle at the wrong time and can mess up your polishing.

If you really want to stick with LC i would suggest:

    LC Flat Pads
    LC Constant Pressure Pads or
    LC Hydro Tech pads

i would stick with using a 5.5" pad as that is perfect for the PC's

pads that i have heard a lot of good things about are Phil's flat pads from Detailers Domain.

I just ordered 14 pads from him

Detailers Domain Flat Pads 5.5" 5 Pack

The 5 Pack of Pads are $35 and you can pick and choose what color pads you want.

As for polished the 105/205 combo is very good. The polishes you choose will be based on the condition of your car.

You can also try: Menzerna Power Finish(Swirl Removal) & Menzerna 85RD (Final Polish)

There are a ton of different directions. What would be your budget?

What products are most important to you (Buffer, Polishes, Pads and what else do you need) microfibers?

The more info the more we can help.

Makes since about the pads.... as far as price i dont want to be cheap and know i have to paya the price to play this detailing game.lol. I really like the PC 7424xp and as far as the 105/205 combo i just want to make sure i get it strat..
the 105 goes fisrt as a "swirl remover" then the 205 which is not as abbresave, but then what goes next?

And microfiber are a pain to look for. Any place you suggest for a good price and overall proformance or am I really going to have to get different microfiber for buffing and removing residue polish? Or is that just to make my life easier? :shead:

Microfibers are a no brainer. talk to Ranney over at Pakshak (Let him know Tyson aka vtec sent ya). Excellent guy, Excellent Customer Service & his Microfibers are well known world wide.

My main concern is the fact that M105 is not a Polish but a Compound. 105 is very abrassive and if your swirling and marring isn't really really bad the 105 might be over kill and remove more clear coat then needed.

Primarily it would be M105 -> M205 and the done in most cases as the M205 finishes down nice but on some dark color cars you will want to go: M105->M205-> Menzerna P085rd (finishing polish) to jewel the paint.

So all and all it seems like you have it figured out:

    PCXP
    5.5" Uber Pads (Detailers Domain)
    Meguiars M105
    Meguiars M205
    Pakshak Microfibers

having seperate towels for things does help only because the nap or plushness on the towels is different and works better for certain things. You also don't want to use one towel to do wax then that same towel to clean windows.

I would just purchase a few good quality towels that you can use for at least removing polish & wax and then things like door jams etc . . . you can use microfibers from like costco or another source. I hope that sets things up for you

I truly appreciate your concern and all of the concerns of detailing fanactics out there (me too) in helping me understand what is best.
I agree that in reality all the products listed in this post are good quality, but I wanted to get a general opinion on what most people think...... which seems to be the 105/205 combo.

I think i might be going with the 105/205 combo but would like to know just a few more things before i get annoying..lol.

1st)Any pads suggestions (color, type, brand) that would go nicely with the 105/205 combo in removing swirl marks and appling 105/205 with Blackfire wet diamond (or sealant/wax you use)?
for example: Orange pad with 105, white pad with 205....

2.) Last questions is what is a good way to determine when I have found the good combination of pad and application for the car? I know experience falls heavy on this one but should I expect about 99% of the swirl marks, marring, halograms to be removed? Or what is the most likely percent of perfection I should expect when using the 105/205 combo? (I do realize deep straches will not come off :)
If you could tie in the question #1 with #2 that would be alot more helpful.... example

"I use the LCC flat pads with 105 and work it for about 6-8 sections passess and then approxiamatly 95% of the imperfections are gone. This tells me I can work the polsish in for about 2-3 more sections passess to get about 98% of the imperfections out."

If i dont make sense please bare with me... :).... Im new at this and just want to make sure I dont screw up my paint or stop polishing when I could have polished a little longer and gotten a flawless look or vise versa.

Truly... All this advice if very appreciative.

The thing with that question is this . . . . every single car is different from the way it is cared for, the elements it is put through along with the color and so on so one person really can't say that it will take a certain amount of passes per-say.

The only way to really tell what pad and combo to use and this is what i was taught was to start with the least aggressive method first. Test a panel on the car and see what results are achieved.

M105 doesn't always have to be used on a Orange pad either although traditionally that is what most people use it with or a purple foamed wool etc . . . . depending on the severity of the defects.

The swirls on your car might come off with M205 and a Orange or Green Pad.

I personally have M105 but the rest of what i have is Menzerna products. I think you would benefit from using Menzerna Power Finish. It's still in the polish category and not a compound like M105. You will be able to achieve correction without tearing through a lot of clear.

I use to use LC CCS pads with my Makita Rotary but just recently ordered up some flat pads and am awaiting my backing plate to try them out. Hope that helps.
