im thinking about getting a pc for polishing in the near future and i am looking at the various polishes that are available. I think that i will be going with menzerna polishes as that is what i see being used by almost everyone. whats a good set of menzerna polishes to start off with and what is the difference between po85rd and po106fa? thanks guys. im getting tired of watching the amount of swirls (mostly from the body shop and dealership) slowly grow and want to do something about it.
I would suggest Super Intensive, Intensive, and Micro Polish(85rd). Those are the most used in my details. The main difference with 106 and 85 is 106 has a bit more cut, ans supposedly does not leave as good of a finish. I use 85rd personally.
Their line is confusing and overlaps. The power finish is the most versatile product they have. 85rd is amazing at jeweling the finish. Is the purchase just for your cars or for others? IF just for yours, the above 2 will do. If you need heavy cut, I would recommend Megs 105...nothing beats it, IMO. When I use up all my odds and ends of Menz bottles, I will stick with power finish and 85rd. I will use 105 for heavy cut.
it would be just for my cars and occasional family members for now. pretty much for very light scratches and swirling and hologramming.
After starting to play around with Power Finish it is a must for anyone. Nice cut, and good finishing, a good finishing polish would be something like 85rd like Richy said. Here is a little handy chart to help figure out all those numbers and cut/gloss levels.
I own: PG, SIP, PF, 106FA, 85rd.... I would ditch PF and 106FA... I also own 105, 205, all the 1z pro polishes, and 4 Scholl polishes...
do you think that the 16oz sizes will last me long enough, or should i go for the 32oz sizes? im no professional detailer and just do this for my car and occasionally for friends and family
I have to agree. Super Intensive polish and P085RD are my go to polishes everytime. Althought, for a 1 step on light colored cars, I like Power Finish, has a nice cut and finishes down really nice. You can work it a long time too.
For your own car, pint size bottles of both powerfinish and 85RD would be your best bet. Power finish is great because you can tailor it to your specific needs depending on your choice of pad used with it. I've used powerfinish with both yellow and orange ubers which require a finishing step. I've also used powerfinish with green and blue ubers as one-steps with great results. 85RD is such a great finishing polish I can't imagine being without it.
I am only 18 too so I know how money can be lol. I use Power Finish and 85 rd and love it. Its amazing how they work together. I use a different product to cut first then follow up with pf and then 85. That works very well
