topping collinite 845

while my collinite is coming in an order from DD, i started thinking and wanted to know if anybody had a suggestion for a good wax to top 845 with. Preferably the wax would cost under $60.

im open to all suggestions

 

I know Phil tops it with Lusso Oro, and a few other members do as well. Personally, I think it looks fine as it is, but that's what I've seen people using.

 

I'd prob say pretty much any carnuba wax that the site sponsors sell will look good on top of 845.

Lusso is a great wax, really easy on and off and has a great glow to it. DoDO juice wax's are pretty nice as well.

well it looks like lusso oro it is. Ill try to get it in with an order of microfibers and waffleweaves.

How does this was compare to petes 53 from CG? Maybe ill end up getting both. cant ever have too much wax :thumb:


edit: and also, does anyone have experience with 1Z Glanz wax? its only $20 and ive seen Phil use it in one of his details

I really enjoy topping 845 with Pete's 53, OCW, or Natty's Red. I'm going to try topping it with Raceglaze 55 and RBOE next Spring.

 

IMO, 845 itself will look good ... I top up with duragloss Aquawax and look better after cure ...

I've tried everything from sealants to expensive "boutique" waxes and for over 20 years I've always came back to 845IW. It's ease of use, look and price point cant' be beat. As far as longevity the only thing I've ever seen beat it is 915 or 476.

I've topped numerous sealants with 845 but considering it's attributes I don't see why anyone would want to cover it up with anything. :shakehead: It's what I want on top.

Did any one mention Lusso Oro yet? haha I had great results that way, lasted a long time and looked great!

 

How long should I wait after wiping off the 845 before applying another wax on top?

collinite 845 looks great on its own, and if i use it on its own i'll do two layers. but i have topped it with lusso oro, petes 53, and swissvax onyx. i know all swissvax waxes will work over it. and most higher end/high content nubas.

 

i've layered over 845 in as little as a half hour to an hour with no issues.

 

Like with most recommended times, some have no issues, some do, just states what I am pretty sure the manuf. recommended time was. I have done it the next day(<12hrs) and did not have any issues I saw. Most of the time after detailing the car and putting down the first layer of wax I am to beat to do the second right then so just wait till the next day, haha.

 

I think that both Lusso Oro and P21s look great on top of 845.

 

I don't top 845.... I think it looks good enough all by itself (on a properly prepped finish that is)...
