Hey all, just thought I'd ask to hear out what everyone's favorite spot pads are? Currently mine are the 3M UK ones due to their small size (75mm I believe) and the fact the 3M UK pads are just great. I'm looking for opinions though on some other spot pads that work well.

I have a few older 3.5" LC ones, also have some Griots garage 3" ones. Was looking at Bens' 75mm pads as well. Also have some 4" lC pads. All are good, like the 3.5" LC ones better as they fit the 3" uber backing plate i have and better to use around my front bumper where i use the smaller pads.

    How small?

Ben's 50mm BP with his wool pads are amazing... or 75mm and 4" uber pads...

Yeah, I have Ben's 50mm and 75mm BP's. This is also part of the reason why I'm asking about spot pads as well. :)

I've been experimenting with cutting down uber pads to the 50mm size... haven't had any luck so far... hopefully my machinist friend will make me up a better cutting tool....

Try using like a cookie cutter and a sharp razorblade.

Last time I cut a pad down I took a large C-Clamp and had two metal disk that where 3" in diameter put the pad between it and clamped it down. Took a sharp utility knife and cut around the metal "jig". They did not come out perfect but good enough to use.

3.75" GI pads are very nice.

+1 I was just going to mention buff n shine. I have some of their yellow pads, and they fit perfectly on the 75mm bp from ben.

Here's a couple photos of the yellow foam pads and the wool pads from buff n shine on the 75mm bp:

I am using the 4" LC pads, bt i wish they are smaller to fit my RB plates better.

I had them when you were up here IIRC. I found them at the local body shop supply store. They didn't even have pricing on them, so I believe I got them for a couple bucks a piece :D

I used to like the original LC CCS pads until I tried the newer ones from Ken with the Constant Pressure technology (blue soft foam backing). The soft foam deflects around the backing plate allowing more of the surface of the pad to stay in contact with the paintwork..An excellent pad IMO :thumb:
