After you guys do a maintenance wash do you spray on a qd or spray wax to boost the existing coat of wax until you rewax your car?

Currently I just spray the car down with CG speedwipe after each wash because it adds a little gloss (and i like the watermelon smell). Idk if it does anything.

and sorry, i also have another question: Does anyone use anything to protect their headlights/tail lights? the plastic headlights and tail lights on my rabbit are perfectly clear right now and i would like to keep them that way. :thumb:

And as always, thanks to all that are able to help me. I know i ask a lot of this community, but i feel that it is the best detailing community that i have ever come across. Im just glad that there are people out there willing to share advice with less knowledgeable people such as myself.

I usually use a QD after washing if its a maint wash. I started using Scholl SW20 and LOVE it. Before that I would use DoDo Juice Red Mist, OID, or Sonus Nuba Spritz.

    What year is your rabbit?

On the headlights I have paint protection film applied first day I got my car to help prevent pitting and what not, on the taillights I use whatever I am using on the paint. My taillights are painted, smoked, so just take care of them like the paint.

If you dont want to go that route you could use a good quality sealant or there are even plastic sealants. I know Wolfgang has one.

Dont worry about asking too many questions, that what this forum is here for...asking questions. "The only dumb question is the one you dont ask" or something like that.

My maintenance consists of ONR, OID, and OCW. I'll just use OCW if I'm in a rush. I used the OID to improve slickness only.

Its an '09 rabbit, my first car. Its got those oem tinted tail lights from vw and some lowering springs (they dont do much lowering, but help close the gap in the wheel wells), both came on the car installed by the dealership.

As for the headlights ... any wax/sealant will be fine. I usually use 845 for the lights.

Nice, I have a 06 GTI, as you can see from my avatar, I am lowered about a inch to go back to Euro height, about the same as your is. Got rid of that 4x4 look.

If the LSP on my car is pretty fresh, I don't bother. The wash soap I use has a truckload of polymers in it, so it gives the effect of a good QD. If my LSP is getting tired, I use Duragloss Aquawax to "top it up."

Sure thing; I should have put it in the original response. Majestic Solutions Ultra Gloss. Great stuff.

Hey do you know the dilution ratio for UG? I got a sample of it but have no idea what ratio to use.

I have Megs, Ultimate Detailer, and I like its hydrophobic qualities on a sealant but on a wax, I use mothers QD- love the smell BTW!

I use OCW, or Aquawax..... the best combo is to spray the car down with aqua wax before you dry it, and then top is with OCW... slick city!!! and very good protection

Dumb question. How can you tell if the lsp is getting tired? Bad beading or what?

yeah, usually the beading on my car starts to become less tight and the surface of the paint loses its slickness.

Also you can really notice it when washing the car. A car that still has a good layer of protection is much easier to wash and you will have an easier time dragging a wash mitt across the surface.

hope that helped. if anyone has anything else to add or corrections to what i said, please comment
