the other day about 2 weeks ago. my dumb dogs decided they wanted to rough house some and started getting heated. yes again, i posted a few weeks ago about the bite on my leg. well this time one decides to bolt out the front door. i went to stop him, slipped and got my hand stuck in his collar. trying to stop a 105lb pit bull puppy while falling=broken thumb. so now here i sit with a temp cast waiting for next week to get an mri to see if i have any tendon damage. damn you dont realize how much you use your thumbs till they are gone. i cant even drink a soda with my right hand now. and to think i have done 3 full details with paint correction in the last 2 weeks with a broken thumb. shoulda listened to the wife and gone the day after it happened. guess the sausage sized thumb should have been a big enough hint something was wrong LOL sorry for the rant
I know what you mean. I did something ( have no idea what ) to my right arm. My shoulder fells like a hot poker is stuck in it and my fingers are swollen up all the time. Is that normal? Maybe I'll go see my doctor.
Ken that sounds like you're having a stroke. all joking aside that doesnt sound normal at all. i wouldnt play around with injuries like that because i know how bad it can get over time. Years ago i broke my pinky on my right hand. pretty much my knuckle was shattered and the bones fused together over time and there was also nerve damage. all because my parents didnt believe me and thought i was faking it. now when i make a fist theres 3 visible knuckles on top of my right hand when there should be 4. lesson of the day get any injury checked by a doctor. because of my late visit to the doctor, i have nerve damage reducing function and almost disabling my pinky, not to mention horrible pain on cold and rainy days :/ for the non believers heres a pic
I broke my toe one time at home. When I told my wife that she had to take me to the doctor, she asked how could I be sure that I broke it? I told her that I was sure that it was broken. Again she asked how was I sure? By then, it was throbbing and hurting like hell. I replied to her "Because my pinky toe usually doesn't stick out at a 45 degree angle!!" To make matters worse, the ER doctor couldn't see the two clean breaks on the xray. Stevie Wonder could have seen them, that's how obvious it was. The dumby then wanted to buddy tape it to the toe next to it and reassured me that it would be ok. When I went to my podiatrist a few days later he laughed his head off when I told him about my ER experience and reset it for me. Man, I hope I never have to go the ER again.
Dude I feel your pain. I jammed my right thumb when I wrestled in college and it's never been the same. The part that pisses me off the most is that after waiting two hours in the ER, they simply gave me a splint, some ice, and motrin. Now, I can't grip anything for over two minutes, without getting a sharp pain to the base of my palm where the thumb begins. I was told by my doctor that I probably damaged a nerve, but he only gave me a 50% probabitity that surgery could improve it. That's way too low of a percentage for me to consider any damn surgery, especially since there is a chance it may make things worse. Don't ignore your injury, it may get worse or heal improperly. Hope you feel better. With any luck sooner or later you'll be giving more of these: :thumb::thumb::thumb:
damn that sucks. there is a lot of things right hand is good for lol (polishing included). sorry couldnt help myself
Any injury should be checked out, especially as you rely on being physically fit to earn your livelihood.
good lord, I have broken my right pinky at least 4 times, dislocated my right knee cap, dislocated my right shoulder twice, dislocated my left wrist, broke my right small toe, and I think two concusions
A long, long time ago, when I was young I used to play squash (racketball) lift weights, and I dislocated my right shoulder something like ten times, and had to have the rotator cuff rebuilt. Only good part of this is I can tell when its going to rain. Down side is it sets the body scan alarms off at airports and on cold days the arthritis is very painful
Wait til you wanna fire off some knuckle children. I hear that when you change hands, it's like a whole new girl. Seriously though, that's gotta suck. Hopefully it's a speedy recovery! :thumb:
