I had a chance to try ONR on my vehicle today.

This stuff freakin' rocks :worship2: ... I was extremely careful with my soft black paint. I love the fact that the water literally sticks to the surface and doesn't drip. I didn't notice additional swirls.

I also had a chance to try out the optimum qd and it was pretty good. I have been impressed with all the optimum products that I have tried (OS, OCW, and the QD) You can get a decent shine in literally no time.

I will be trying the ONR as a clay lube tomorrow.

That's why I purchased it in the first place, but I can see myself using it all year long. It takes me forever to get a car washed (regular wash, not decontamination). I feel good about saving some gallons of water too ...

BTW Roger ... we need to meet sometime soon to chat about detailing and stuff. We definitively need a philly get together.

GDAL, I bought a bottle of ONR as well and gave it a quick spin. You are a quite right, this stuff is pretty much amazing.

I'll post pictures tonight but like you said, it didn't scratch a single surface on my very dirty car. I love this stuff.

It's funny that you revive this old thread 'cause I used ONR on Saturday to wash my car. It turned out great!!! I think the last time it was washed was in November ...:yikes:

The only complaint I have about ONR is that the wash media dirt is really difficult to remove.

I had to wash the media twice before they were somewhat clean ... and I'm not even counting that I soaked them in boiling water with MF detergent/APC before both washes.

I read in Autopia that some people use OxyClean to clean MFs with ONR residue, but I'm not sure about using OxyClean for MFs.

I really like ONR, but still believe that a foam lance bath is a must BEFORE ONR, therefore I foam it up, let it dwell, rinse it off, then proceed with ONR...

I totally agree with you ... I pressure wash my car before I do the ONR wash and also pre-soak every panel with ONR (at clay lube dilution) to help the process.

I'm saving money to get a small electric pressure washer with a foam gun for this same reason.

I used to have this problem. I now use shag rags for onr washes. Instead of trying to remove the contamination from them and continue washing, I just toss them in a separate bucket with micro restore dilution (just a bucket with about 3 gallons of water, and a few splashes of microrestore. an apc could be used as well). I think that's part of the ONR process. Drawing the conatmination away from the paint, and sticking to the wash media until later. After the contamination starts to break free from the towel, it does rinse pretty easily. But you have to get all the ONR out of the towel before it starts to release the dirt. I find the separate soak bucket helps out to start that process long before they hit the washer.

Looks like I forgot to add a vital piece of info. Once I toss the dirty mf into the microrestore bucket, I grab a fresh shag rag. I don't reuse them during the same wash. I just ONR washed my sedan and the girlfriend's small s10 blazer yesterday with 7 shag rags.

I also used Duragloss Aquawax as a drying aid, and Superfly's for drying. Excellent results.

Pressure washing before ONR is great, but defeats the purpose of doing it inside a nice warm garage with minimal water spilled on the floor.

I usually do a ONR presoak with a sprayer and then follow up with the 2BM and ONR.

I go to the nearest car wash station and use the pressure washer to remove the salt. By the time I get home, the car is completely dry and then I proceed to do the ONR wash.

My issue isn't with water spliiling on the floor. My issue is with the water freezing not only on the car, but inside the pressure washer and ruining it.

Where I live, temps of -20F or colder are regular. Yesterday it was 38F, and I was out ONR'ing both mine and the girlfriend's vehicles with the garage door wide open in a long sleeve tee shirt and jeans.
