sounds like a sad story right? Well, it is. I own and absolutely love a 2004 subaru sti aspen white. I say love because i'm pretty much obsessed with this car. Everytime and I hop in, I love it even more. You know how this is. Althought, coming back to reality, it's a 04 and even if I don't want to admit it, small rust areas are starting to appear (and i'm repairing them when I see them). I started thinking, this car won't last me all my life. It's absolutely STUPID but I get sad just by thinking about it and it's not my first car ... it seems that no other car interessed me, since 2004! :shakehead: I mean, i'm not a weirdo or anything  I have a wife, a little boy and another one on it's way. How do you guys feel about this?
I'm going to sell my 03 WRX (with 335whp/325wtq) and go down to one car for a while and save up for some other car. Looking at something with a bit more classy and comfort. I LOVE the Subi, and it's been a great car -- but I'm starting to get a little bored with it and I think it's time to move on. Consider a Legacy GT? One of the routes I'm leaning. Is it stock? Modded? Maybe a few goodies would renew your love for it?
I don't know, for now, nothing is tempting me ... (insert sad banana here) I hate thinking about the day that I will have to let it go.
If your car is bone stock, PM me and I can lean you in the direction of some basic mods that may renew your love for it and not break the bank
I live in Canada The land of Ice and Salt on roads. I have to post a picture of it from last weekend, you'll see what I mean. I think the warranty is only for the first 3 years ... I think!
lifemal has exceeded their stored private messages quota and cannot accept further messages until they clear some space. oh noes
shot i feel ya man! i'm getting ready to sell a car i have owned for over 20 years and been in my family for 40 years!! i was cleaning the car up a bit this week end and every one was like wow what a beautiful car, i got teary eyed.
According to Subaru's 2004 Warranty Information: Rust perforation coverage for all vehicles is five years regardless of mileage
last time I checked, the rust needs to be real deep and serious and on the platform (meaning the frame and internal bits parts...sorry if my terminology is wrong) Surface rust is not covered even if you buy the "extended warranties". I learned it the hard way Is the rust from paint chips or scrapped off paint? If its not a painted area, perhaps rust-proofing might help. I try to keep it washed whenever I can and when temperatures are above freezing since that's when the risk is the highest. Canadian winters are tough.
My 2000 Crown Vic winter beater has some terminal cancer... thats just what happens to cars up here...
oh and I got back from florida on vacation. Wow, almost no rust on the cars and some of them are really old classics. I'm so jealous. I am so afraid of the salt.
