I found that average was around 140 microns. But in some spots I found a reading as low as 76 and as high as 160. Such a large range and some scary thin paint. I had to be careful that's for sure. This shot was after one pass with my orange pad and powergloss at 1100-1300-1500-1300-1100 rpms intervals. Simply awesome! Seriously, out of all the days of sunshine we have here in Arizona, the weather just didn't want to cooperate with me. HAHA! I thought this was funny, it looks like I have Elephantiasis in this shot. Sorry, ignore the dust in these shots. My brothers that helped me through this battle. Here are some interior after shots, no need for any before pictures. The interior was in excellent shape!
Ran out of light so I had to make the best with what light I had. Most of the shots were taken with a three second shutter speed and a low ISO (100-200). I appreciate those who took the time to look through this extremely long thread. Thank you!!
Nice write up and shots. I've got to experiment with longer duration shutter speeds..you've got it licked! Your work on htis car is amazing. I knew seeing the year in the title that you probably had your work cut our for you...and did you ever! Lovely, lovely job on it.:applause2:
I've even been thinking of getting one of this style BMW 7-series as my daily driver (2000-2001). I really like it, very solid, and not too much electronics like new 7-series...
That car was washed with a brillo pad apparently. Vey nice turnaround. Great results and nice 50/50 shots. I love those style 7-series. I want one. The '00-'01's are just so appealing to me.
Masterful stuff once again, really excellent correction! Oh and btw Mike Portnoy was my inspiration for playing the drums!
Thanks man! Defiantly on the machine wash, it made me want to cry when I first saw it. Thank you! Thank you! Thanks man! :thumb: Thank you! The last of the best 7 series ever. Thanks man! Thank you! I've had to really do a trial and error before I figured out what would look the best. Try it out and you'll love the outcome. :worship2: Thank yoU! Totally agree, these imo were the best. If only they came in a manual transmission Totally James Bond style right? Thanks! Thank you! :applause: I can't wait for DT to come to Phoenix. Portnoy is definitely a maniac, actually all of them.
Very impressive ! :thumb: Looks like the car was washed with a wire brush... How fast does the powergloss breaks down with your flex rotary ?
To tell you the truth when I saw the before pics, I didn't think you were going to be able to save this paint job. Amazing work and those reflection shots look nice and clean .
