Tom..can't comment on the wires, but I clean my LCD with my Zep glass cleaner and it does a good job. I use a glass mf with it.

    Congrats on the purchase.

for any cable upgrades stay away from retail stores, check this place out MONOPRICE.com

i purchased my 10ft hdmi cables, opticals for sound, components for dvd, etc...

**edit i did purchase a roll of 100 speaker cable for my amp and speakers from a retail store,

before i found out about the site

Na you dont have to get 24k wires, the difference is little to none...just good quality cables will be fine. I use 1z CP to clean the screen. Have fun with the new TV!

The only money I spent on mine was $140 for a Monster Cable Power Bar that filters out a lot of the noise in the cable signal. Well worth it. Made such a huge difference in the quality of the picture when watching cable that my wife even noticed!

I say get on Ebay and get some rocketfish cables..i payed 15 bucks for mine...but a lot has been said about most hdmi cables being the same quality and the monster cables are very overpriced for any improvement that you see.

I agree went to Best Buy a few weeks ago to pick up my tv and the guy asked if I needed hdmi cables. He came back with 69.99 gold-plated cables. I said "no thank you"

Went to Blue Jeans Cable -- Quality Cables at Reasonable Prices (monoprice is good too) and spent $12 for three foot cables.

I purchased my HDMI cables on Amazon for a buck. I cost me more to ship the darn things, still came out to about 4 or 5 bucks.

Just about every HDMI cable is more or less the same so there's no real reason to pay more for a HDMI cable.

As for cleaning the screen, I really prefer FK425. Gotta love that non-static quality!

what about putting wax on screen. good or bad idea?
i put destiny on my ipod touch screen (glass i guess) and not finerprints are so much easier to wipe off and doesnt leave that greasy thing no matter what you wipe with
just dont let your wife catch you putting wax on tv lol

    Congrats on the new set!

I know I was sooo excited when I got my 55" LCD last year and I also had cable questions.... As has been offered in this thread, quality cables can be found for cheap.

Last night I was purchasing some longer cables, I got a 15ft HDMI cable for $7.99, a 20ft optical audio cable for $16.90, and a 10ft USB cable (hooking my harddrive up to my TV set) for $1.29.... I got them all from mwave.com

Another thing you HAVE TO DO is upgrade to HD programming... I have become an HD nazi and won't even watch a program if it is not offered in HD, it makes that big of a difference.

OHHH MANNN, just wait till you get a blue ray player,...lol

Just buy the cheapest ones you can find, they're all the same. Like SpK says, it's a huge scam, and these companies make more money on selling cables than they do on selling a television.
