i want a clay bar that will leave no or very minimal marring, because i currently dont have the money for any polishing equipment. My car is black, so any marring will be easily visible and since i dont have anything to polish with, i would like to keep any possible marring to a minimum. also, would you recommend a product like cg luber, or a quick detailer. and of course there is onr, but im not too concerned about price any and all advice or comments are much appreciated
Pretty much the marring is going to happen to a degree I think but with light pressure and plenty of lube you can minimize it ALOT. I would say some good clays would be Sonus and Pinnacle clay. Have had good luck with ONR (between QD and clay lube strength) with few millimeters of #00 Megs High-Tech wash or Pinnacle clay lube if cost does not matter.
i wish i could get riccardo here, but sadly that isnt possible. it sounds like sonus it is. im assuming sonus green then, right?
Correct, can get some for a good price here, http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/f50/swissvax-sonus-13105.html
i also wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with the clay that chemical guys sells. the least aggressive one that they sell
I'd say go with some Griots Garage Paint Cleaning Clay, I think they have a kit. Its real soft and as far as i can tell it leaves very little marring if you use enough Lube. I love Griots products and their customer service has always met or exceeded my expectations. Give them a try.
I personally like clay magic blue with A LOT of lube. I use ONR for lube and it works like a charm and Phil has ONR at DD and clay magic is at detailed image.
Are you going to be claying now or in the spring? Clay gets very hard to use when it's cold so if you're going to be using it soon, put your piece in the microwave for 20 or 25 seconds before using. That softens it and makes it less likely to mar.
