I put this in the looking for a laugh section cuz its pretty funny, but its actually a true story.

Being in EMS, you run up on some crazy stuff. Working Law Enforcement is only worse. They really get the crem de la crem. So, here's one of my many that I got stored up in the old cerebrum. I'm sure Richy has a few of his own too.

It was about 12 years ago we got called out to a wreck. IIRC, it was about 7 or 8 pm. So here we go ripping through the county like a bat out of hades. Turns out the wreck was in Hurricane Bottom (Small community called Hurricane, no really, thats what its called). It takes roughly 15-18minutes to get to Hurricane Bottom.

We arrive on scene and find an old step side Chevy Silverado on its driver's side. I go running to the truck and see half a face and forehead sticking out from under the top rear corner of the truck. Talk about complete shock. We sure werent expecting that. So I say to this guy "Man, are you alright?" He opens the one eye I can see and says this verbatim " I'd be alright if you'd get this truck off my head". Very non-chalantly too. He was very lucky, the ground was soft from alot of rain we had had. There was even an indention in the ground that his head had made.

So we had to wait a few minutes on the rescue truck to get there. Meanwhile, I'm pulling his bottle of Seagram's Gin out and poured some right on his face.

Turns out this guy's twin brother was in the truck as well, along with a female passenger.
Well, wouldnt you know it, the two twins had nick names- "Mater and Tater".

We were on the way back to the ER a little while later. Both brothers were strapped to spine boards. One on the stretcher (truck off my head guy) and one on the bench seat. They would ask each other " Are you alright Tater??, Yeah, I'm alright Mater, how bout you?".

It was one of those things that just really sticks to your memory. Luckily I havent seen those guys since that wreck. Hopefully I wont again.

Hope you enjoyed it. I've got a few more if ya'll wanna hear'em!

    Heath

I missed this one...that is really funny. My first fatality I investigated was where a guy who worked on the line at Ford and sold drugs on the side ran a red light and after striking a car with the right-of-way ended up hiting a pole. He was not belted in and the van came down on his head with the door frame. He was not so lucky as to have soft pliable ground underneath him.:shakehead:

I remember when I had just started and was with my training officer and trying to make a good impression...we were at a call for a suicidal female who just turned out to be a needy girl who was also very heavy. She was blabbing on and on and my partner turned to me and said "na na nana na" to the rhythm of AC/DC's "Whole lotta Rosie"...I had to bite my tongue so I didn't blurt out laughing that we were making fun of her. Working with the public can be very entertaining.

I was on a walking beat last summer for the Red Bull air races when they came to Windsor. It was 2am and all the bars had just emptied out. We were at a big intersection downtown in the bar district. My partner was a new guy just on the job for less than a year. All of a sudden we hear a bang and look over and here's this stupid kid in his early 20's had just smashed his fist into the telephone booth. Luckily he broke neither the booth nor his hand. We motioned for him to come over. There were a bunch of older adults standing behind us. I was standing there smoking my cigar. I said to the kid "What did the phone booth do to you?" He tells me "nothing" and goes on to say he was mad b/c his gf just broke up with him. I told him, between puffs, that he had hurt the phone booth's feelings. I made him walk over to the phone booth and apologize for hitting it. He did so and then I told him I didn't think he was being sincere. He apologized again, this time with feeling. The people behind me were roaring out loud with laughter. I said to him "Now, son, you're not going to be hitting any more phone booths any time soon now are you?" He prromised no and went on his way. No arrests, no paperwork, a little humiliation and a lasting impression of how to conduct oneself. I still chuckle about that one.

    LOL!! Poor little phone booth!!!

We had a lady call 911 and said she needed some oxygen. We were familiar with this person so we knew right off the bat it was gonna be BS. So we walk in the house and say- Whats going on?? She says- I need some oxygen, I done sucked all the oxygen out of that plant over there, can you give me some oxygen. I said to this lady- Ma'am, your trailer is full of oxygen, there's oxygen everywhere. Her- Can you just leave me a bottle??So, I said no, not unless you go to the hospital. So she agreed. I put her on some oxygen. She later complained her nose was burning there was so much oxygen coming out. HEHEHE

I thought you were gonna tell her to pull your finger for an oxygen injection!! It's probably a good thing we don't work together..we'd get into too much trouble!!:giggle:

unfortunately the stories my experience as a firefighter has yielded thus far are not exactly the humorous type, but i do have one funny one that i'll never forget:

it was around 2am on a summer weekend night about three years ago and my company got tapped out for a tactical box assignment, dwelling with smoke inside the building. we roll out to the house which was only a couple minutes away, and it was clear as we're pulling up that it was probably some kind of "crappy cooking alarm" or something along those lines. regardless, following protocol, two of my guys stretch a line to the front door, and myself and the assistant chief who was already there meet the homeowners right inside the front door. to my pleasure they happened to be two smoking hot lesbians, wearing thongs and tight tank tops, no bras. they explain that the power on the first floor went out suddently and then they smelled smoke and some kind of electrical burning. we go check out the breaker which had tripped, and then began checking the house for the cause or anything possible issues just to be sure. so im walking around the living room in the first floor checking all the outlets, and i spot an outlet by the couch with an odd looking cord coming out of it. so i follow the cord with my flashlight, and it leads up to the couch, where i spot the biggest, craziest looking electric dildo i have ever seen. i call the chief over, and we both couldnt help but burst out laughing. one of the girls comes over and immediately gets all embarassed and admits that they had been "being intimate" and that the dildo must have shorted the outlet and breaker since its so powerful. so she walks away in embarassment, and as my chief isnt lookng, i pick up the dildo and smack him in the side of the face with it, lol.

as we left, we advised them to invest in a decent surge protector to use in conjunction with the dildo next time.

Billy, thats awesome. Didnt know you were a firefighter!! Thats awesome!!!

I have never had an experience with hot half naked lesbians. If they were around here, they probably wouldnt be very hot. However, I did have the unholy experience of going up into a mobile home one afternoon and finding a totally naked 65 y\o lady in the tub, and it wasnt a pretty site. I was like, so you called cuz you were having trouble breathing, what made you think this was gonna help. Logic goes totally out the window around here at even the best of times.
