This is the same Camaro I recently posted. We originally did the car back in August when the client took delivery of it. Customer swore up and down he wasn't going to modify it. Had enough horsepower he said. Had big enough wheels he said. Factory stereo sounds great he said. Well, 4 months later it comes back and its not quite stock anymore. 480rwhp, custom stereo, lowered, 20" Foose wheels etc. Problem is, guys doing the work marred it quite badly in some areas. Washed with RG soap and RG washmitt Tires and wheels cleaned with AG Custom Wheel Cleaner No claying necessary today. Marring was removed with Scholl S03+/ Scholl black polishing pad on PC 7424 Finish polishing with Scholl S30/Uber Blue on PC 7424 LSP was Victoria Wax Mayhem x2 Tires dressed with Swissvax Pneu ( Thanks Ketil! ) A few befores for you The root of all evil..... Reflection shot....before polishing Some flaws Scholl S03+ on black Scholl polishing pad More flaws Making it shine A big ass chunk of dirt in the paint - factory installed. I sanded this with 2000 grit and polished it out. At that point it was apparent that we couldn't get the chunk out without compromising the surrounding clear so we suggested the client take it to a bodyshop. Lots of clear Sanding bob and discs PTG reading on roof Sanded areas on roof Reading after 1500, 2000 and polishing A few pics of how far the sap had eaten into the clear. I opted to leave it as is. Swisswax Pneu I got from Ketil. Awesome product. Victoria Wax Mayhem. To make it blacker than black. Raceglaze Leather Conditioner for the seats and door panels. A few after polishing pics. No LSP yet. Some damage done by guy who installed the wheels. Fail. Thought this shot looked kind of cool. Just a little gleam off the wheel lip. Nasty decal install Applying the first of two coats of Mayhem Afters. Enjoy A friend showed up with a Sigma 10-20 lens for me to try. Awesome. More afters. Thanks for looking.
Nice work Ken, that stripe install is pretty bad, sucks for the paint defect but seems like it is hard to notice. Love the last pic, car looks sick and from the engine and HP spec seems like it would be a blast on the strip.
Not sure. I know the thing barely idles and the exhaust is insane. I ran it up to 3500rpm in my shop and almost peed myself. Owner said they had it at 160mph on the dyno. Couldn't imagine what it sounded like. It was snowing when he picked it up. LOL
Excellent job. I started out to say that I know those wheels are expensive...after all it has Chip Foose's name on it. But they are ugly. After going through all the pic you posted and a lot of the wheels...it started to grow on me. Now my brain tells me that they match the car perfectly. Anyone feel the same?
I like the wheels, but they were painted to match the stripes and are waaaay off. The wheels and stripes are being painted flat black. The Foose wheels are overpriced. The barrels have no finish at all.
You must have a PTG before sanding as it removes a lot of paint quickly. Sanding without a PTG is playing with fire.
damn nice job. Really wish you made a video of the car starting up though, im sure it sounds like a beast!!!
+1 This kind of work should only be undertaken by a very experienced enthusiast or a professional detailer; experienced in colour-sanding (wet-sanding) / paint renovation, more so than detailing, someone who uses a paint thickness gauge (PTG) to measure and document the vehicles paint. This is a technique that takes a lot of practice to perfect. Wet-Sanding (Colour Sanding)- Wet-Sanding - Detailing Bliss Forum
