For new years myself and some friends headed on down to a smallish local dam about an hour out of Johannesburg. We spent New Years eve and the day at the dam swimming and messing around. Ken suggested I snap some photies to share with you all so here we go :applause2: Out of the city and into the 'platelande' as they are lovingly called here (platelande = flat lands loose translation lol) Getting close now A 360° view of the dam from the deck of the house Some of the other houses next door Lovely green gardens Shortly after arrival the marshals and water police came by wishing everyone all the best for the new year With it being around 32°C outside and slightly humid because of the cloud cover we decided to go for a swim Ladies first :applause2: Water bomb from yours truly Almost in Kung Fu Dan in action Some of the watercraft out to play We couldn't take the boat out as none of us had a valid license  Another boat with children in tow :applause2: Time for some afternoon 'snacks' from the BBQ Late in the afternoon the storm clouds began rolling in The rain...she is coming And finally a small collection of some fireworks from New Years eve :applause: Hope you guys enjoyed the pics :thumb:
Very cool!! In the first picture of food grilling what kind of food is that? How far is this from "District 9" :
Indeed...Can't say I envy you :applause2: The food in the 1st pic is pork rashers...Delicious when grilled and the fatty bits go crispy exactly like pork crackling if you grill them long enough :headbang: District 9 is in the opposite direction lol ...The f%&$# prawns can't swim :applause2:
