I haven't been posting details in a while because I've just been so BUSY. Plus I usually don't post wash/waxes which has been keeping me busy, and money in the accounts . This was one I completed the day after christmas, and the 27th as well. I spent around 18 hours total on this car. I forgot my camera on the first day.. but it was just beginning polishing, as well as decontamination steps. Such as wash, foam, wheels, engine bay, etc. But on to the pictures! The process for this car was Meguiars Yellow so1o wool pad, and a combination of 3M FC+ and M105 for as much as 3 passes. I then followed it with a 3M green pad, and FC+, followed by 3M Yellow pad and 3M Extra Fine compound, and then refining with a 3M Blue pad and Scholl's S40. This was what the car looked like: And after four steps: The trunk before: After 3 compounding steps, 2 foam compounding steps, then the 2 refining steps: Under camera flash: Trunk area before: Tail lights before: During, with my 4 dollar insurance policy: Afters: If you look closely at this picture, you can actually tell the level of gloss brought out by the polishing steps. The area to the right of the BMW badge, and down the trunk has been polished; the left, not. Some more of the nasty rear quarters: Afters: Drivers door before: After: Mirror before (notice the hazyness--the camera is in focus): After: It was time for a rinse... Then when I went to pic up the camera again, I did this: So no more pictures! :sorry: The LSP for this car was two coats of Blackfire Wet Diamond. Thanks for looking! As always, C/C Welcome! eace: Aaron
Well all was looking well up until the broken camera. Damn that sucks. I was looking forward to seeing the finished product especially since I see you used BF Wet Diamond. I bet it looked superb. S40 leaves a nice finish doesn't it.
Nice, how pita were painter plastic bumpers? Was that front glass or filter? If glass then get hood and filter next time and use it. That would prevent this things
great job Aaron, sorry to see that happen with the camera. With your skills and attention to detail you will be busy enough to have the camera fixed or replaced in no time. Keep up the great work and Happy New Year buddy.
Thanks! Thanks JL! I really do like S40.. but I usually just finish with M205+DA 'cause it's so fast. Thanks, Denzil Thanks! The bumpers were actually easier than the rest of the car because they were newer (M-tech). Luckily it was just the filter that shattered.. but when it hit the ground, it drove the filter past the threads so it was jammed in there until I could get home with some pliers Thanks! Thanks a lot Dana! Happy new year to you too! Thanks Kei! Thank you!
Aaron..man was that thing hammered! You did a great job on restoring the paint. Funny, I swore I heard someone yell out "F*ck Me!!"..and then I saw that....
