So I got a used makita and the original backing plate was stuck to the makita. I just spent hours trying everything possible to remove it. it was locked on for good. so i took drastic measures and finally got it off. Then after all that work i was happy to start polishing with it (just got some bp's from phil this morning) and guess what? my new bp got stuck to it just like the old one. No im not doing it wrong and yes ive tried everything already. at this point im just going to buy a new spindle $15+ shipping not too bad just a pain in the ass since i was looking foward to using it. just thought i would rant a little. ill post pics off my frustrating battle with the original bp in a bit. Had to rip old bp off wouldnt budge Finally off Now this brand new BP is stuck to it
Sucks but how much did you save on the unit compared to new? Sucks none the less hope it gets fixed up and good to work.
thanks, i saved quite a bit so its not a big loss. it can be used but its not the best quality, plus the one it came with was used and not in great condition.
That is a good point, get a thread cleaner and clean out the threads on it. Then gain if a spindle is cheap that my be good just to change out.
ordering one tonight yep that damage was from me hacking the old bp off. but i filed the damage down and the new bp had no problem going on at all. i was surprised on how smoothing it went on. then it locked up just like the old one. maybe its cursed lol. I already hurt my pinky finger pretty badly trying to get it off. sorta lucky for me that pinky is already broken and has nerve damage so i didnt feel it that much lol
