Dodge Charger advice needed

Yesterday I worked on my neighbors car and had a heck of a time with it. It's a 09 Charger, black in color. The hood is what really drove me crazy. When I started it was full of swirls. After a lot of work and different pad combos I was able to get it to about 80-85% defect free. There were some RIDS that I induced from using 105. I tried to finish it down with 205 on a white LC CCS pad. There were also some other areas that had some remaining scratches and RIDS that I'll have to chase on another day.

I was just wondering what everyone's experience has been with this car's paint? Is it me, or is the CC on it difficult to work with?

Metallic or non-metallic?

What I have noticed that at the dealerships that have these, that the paint almost looks flawless on every single one of them. Knowing how the monkeys wash them there, that must be some VERY VERY hard clear coat!

 

My fiance has an 07 Sebring. I had to play around eith various pad/polish combos to come up witha game plan. I decided that purple foamed wool did a good job at getting the bad stuff out with M105 followed by M105 with cutting pad followed by a finishing pad with the finishing polish of your choice. This gave ME the best results. Not saying it will work for you but just my experience.

 

It's matallic paint. looks beautiful in the sun, just wish I could have finished it better. it was a PITA to work with. tried lots of combos.

 

i have a 2006 300c and the CC is super hard. so not a lot of deep scratches but the ones that were there needed:
PC
Uber Orange Pad
Menzerna Power Gloss

i tried uber green pad with MZ Power Finish and that wasn't working to well on the deep ones. but worked fine for the lighter stuff. (which there really wasn't much of)

 

I have a Brilliant Black Pearl 09 Dodge Charger as well. I believe the paint is hard and yes it is metallic. The Chargers, 300's, and the Magnums are all part of the LX Platform and are essentially the exact same. If my memory serves me correctly these LX cars have the Hard Clearcoat that Chrysler introduced.

 

i just did a black pearl charger a few weeks ago. used lc green pad, menz sip and flex. with the exceptions of a few deep scratches, it came out damn good. and it was very easy to correct.

 

I had a run in with a 300C last year that was just hammered. Took the better part of two days to sort it. Very hard clear.

I did an older Charger, not sure if the clear is the same.

I'm pretty sure I used SIP/Orange, 106ff White , 85rd black.. all pads were 5.5... Paint is wearing BHAB
