So i got around to waxing the Altima so i decided to try My 915.

I had a few issues with it

    1. it did not want to come out of the can and onto the applicator. Are people warming it up? It was fairly hard and tough to get onto the applicator. I could only get enough on the applicator to cover a 6" x 6" area.

    2. The can says to apply let thoroughly dry to a haze and buff off. Well i either got a bum can, let it dry to long or this stuff is like concrete when it dries. Those of you that have used it how long did you let it sit before buffing it off. It was so hard that the only way i could get it off is by re polishing the car. Trying to do it by hand i had to press so hard it marred the paint. Should i treat it like Zymol estate glazes and only let it sit for a few minutes and dont let it fully dry?

So can someone tell me what i did wrong?

If this is just the nature of the beast with collinite i hate the stuff.

    1) rub your finger onto the wax in the pot so that it becomes a bit more "liquid". Then, put your applicator on top of it and just pat on it a bit. That will give you enough wax to get going.

How long did you let the wax sit? I don't let it sit for more than 1-2 minutes before taking of 476.

PS: I find Collinite paste waxes to be a hassle, although they are quite good. I stick with 845 as it's a liquid and it's easier to apply and remove.

I haven't had a problem getting it out of the can. It is hard to get off, but well worth it. Apply as little as possible.

i was applying it so thin it was to the point where i was questioning if i was even putting anything on.

So should i only let it sit for a few minutes?

apply as thin as possible ... otherwise PITA to buff it off ....
Like P1et mentioned above, do not let it sit more than 1-2minutes ...

Prime your foam applicator with a good QD, like FK425, it will make application much easier...if you let wax dry and it is hard to remove, simply spray that area with FK425, and then buff off. Much easier that way...and it looks amazing...
By the way, if you think 915 is very hard, wait 'till you try FK1000p...it's hard like a rock...

I let AJ cure for 45 minutes on a car once.... thought my arm was going to fall off buffing that stuff off!

You mention that it was hard to get out of the can. I'm wondering if it was not pretty cold out when you were applying it. This might also explain why it was difficult to remove.

915 is one of the harder waxes that Collinite makes (next to 476s). I find it very easy to remove from a well propped surface as long as it's put on very thin. I let it dry for around 20 minutes and then remove without any problems.

I prepped paintwork using Dodo Juice Lime Prime Lite (love this stuff), and then waxed it with 915. It came out beautiful!
