for all you mobile detailers, how do you make money in the winter? I live in Canada and there's snow and freezing temps for approx 4-5 months. How do you deal with this weather?
i would guess thats where you can make alot of money since its freezing and nobody wants to wash cars themselves. maybe find somebody with expensive car and detail those so you have a lot of time that car doesnt move out of garage? just my 2 cents
You smoke weed?? Lol I plan on not doing any detailing for as long as the snow is on the ground... at least for other people... I'll still do my own stuff...
This is pretty much the way to go. Just try to find someone with a collection, and spend 2 days on each car. Use Optimum No Rinse and wash the cars indoors.
Do one panel at a time and wipe it dry when done. Although this would probably only work for garage queens. I have my own garage so in the winter i just wash the car outside really quick and take it inside to dry and detail. As for mobile, i would assume ONR is the best option, unless you can get warm water but i dont know how this would affect the paint??? i know it would crack the windshield lol
This is one reason I will be moving next year to get a garage. I'll keep detailing as long as the temps remain above 40, but beyond that, I'll just keep buying a ton of supplies and gearing up for spring.
move to so cal, twas 75 here today. i was out at 7:30am and it was only 55. t-shirt and shorts weather
if you lived in florida you wouldn't have to find different work, up in the great white north, you do or if you are lucky enough you have enough business to pay the rent in a shop
I'll be working inside this year. Got my heated shop, ONR and a washmatt I got from DusttoGlory so I'll be washing inside when it gets cold out! Yahoo!!!!
Speaking of washmatt, have you used it yet? I've been thinking of purchasing one of those for my garage but not sure if it's worth it :shead:
