at times. so i have 3 pit bulls, 2 are pure bred, 1 is a mix. well 1 pure bred and the mix are males and even though the mix is neutered and 10 years old, he's still got the pit personality. anyway, monday night i hear my son yelling in the back yard at the boys, zeus and deuce. so the wife and i go running out fearing a fight has broken out. well they were locked onto each other and the older was the aggressor. zeus is only 11 months, but 105lbs, deuce is 10 years old and 85lbs. we tried for about 5 mins to get them to un lock their jaws. finally i broken them up, but the older male, deuce, wasnt done. he thought my leg was attacking him and proceeded to lock on my leg, luckily he realized it was me and not the other dog and let go after just puncturing the skin. been 3 days now and it still hurts like a bitch and is still leaking a little blood from the big puncture. pics included, i know it looks like nothing, but it still hurts. i'm just thankful it wasnt my big 105lb male that locked on and that deuce didnt shake, like the dogs do when they fight, and let go asap.
yeah i dont blame them or think they were being malicious. my female is coming out of her heat and they are just being dogs. i have had pits all my adult life and this is the first time in 20 years i've been bit. other than that its been nothing but great dogs
Ouch. If you're afraid of them fighting each other or possibly even the kids, look into a stun gun or something.
Sorry to hear that you were bitten. I know how you feel. I have two Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs, one of which is a male and the other a female. He's 1 year and 1 month old, but he weighs 100 pounds already. He's just starting to realize that he's a big boy now so my wife and I are keeping him in check. Herm Sprenger collars and daily OB refresher training so that he won't forget his manners. The HS collars look mean, but suprisingly they're gentle. Bully breeds are awesome, but you just never know what might trigger them. My friend's wife was bitten by her Dogo Argentino on Sunday, trying to do the same thing as you. The Dogo and her Pit got into a fight and when she broke them up, the Dogo turned on her and bit her on her leg also. Needless to say she needed stitches. When they went to the hospital and answered what had happened to her, Animal Services was contacted by the hospital and the dog was quarintined by the city. It will remain there for ten days. After that, who knows what they or the city will do? I hope that you feel better soon. What will you do now?
what will i do now? i dont know if this is a rhetorical question? if its not, i wont do anything other than what i've been doing. i dont treat my dogs as if they are people, they are dogs and treated as such. i understand the breed very well and know that fights are inevitable, with any breed, even small fights are nothing more than a show of domination. some people forget dogs are animals and need to be treated as such. my dogs do not share my bed, nor are they allowed in certain parts of the house. i have no fences or collars that are made to "train" dogs. my dogs are trained from 8 weeks that i am the alpha male. this bite was nothing more than humans interfering with animals, not animals attacking humans. pit bulls are very human tolerant and are only small animal aggressive if allowed. we have a cat, socks, and they know she is not a toy and should not be touched. they sleep with her in the same room and we dont have issues. i bought my dogs to be bred for the love of the breed. i dont fight them nor do i tolerate people who do. pit bulls are one of the most loyal, devoted breeds of dogs. they have gotten a bad rep because of people doing stupid things. my dogs live together as a pack and only show aggression to establish their hierarchy. i dont take them to the dog park, but they are walked. i hate when people say "oh you have pits!!" like i am harboring some fugitives. as a matter of fact my dogs behave very well around people, unlike some of my neighbors dogs. my neighbor has a cocker spaniel that bit our mailman. i had my dogs off leash in the front yard and so did my neighbor. but his dog attacked the mailman because he doesnt spend anytime with his dogs. i've never seen him walk them, bathe them, comb them, nothing. so it came as no surprise to me what happened with the mailman. i just ordered my dogs in once that happened, i felt bad as it was not the dogs fault. they were just being dogs. sorry to rant, just my dogs mean a lot to me and so does preserving the breed and abolishing the ignorance.

We had a 16month old female get mauled by a pit bull here about two weeks ago. To terrible to describe how bad her wounds were. Just heart breaking. . Sure hope you get to feeling better bro!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
