So yesterday while at the auto parts store buying a new alternator for my beater i did my typical pass through the detailing section. it was there that i found a can of Stoners Trim Shine. Since i like their window cleaner so much i figured i would test out the trim shine. Typicaly i would use CG Fade 2 Black but i am always trying out OTC stuff to see how it stacks up. So after i got done fixing my car it was on to the testing. I tried the trim shine on a panel of my dads Toyota FJ. My question is can anyone confirm or deny is the stoners trim shine really relabeled CG Fade 2 black? It sprays out of the can the same, looks the same on the trim and smells the same. Dont get me wrong i really liked the stuff but it seemed like it was the same exact thing as CG fade 2 black. Has anyone else played around with the stuff?
I use Megs Trim Detailer which is also an aerosol spray like fade 2 black and it is pretty much the same as CG also. I dont remember if CG/Stoners has the adjustable spray pattern, from narrow to wide like Megs does. But I think they are all pretty similar in formulation and I get this from similar looks and durability. I got a can of fade 2 black a while back and then found Megs stuff and loved that it was cheaper and found OTC.
I use Stoner Products a lot for run of the mill details and on my daily drivers. Their products are easy to use and seam to look good for the price. I really like thier interior shine. The one thing I don't like about the trim shine is that it will wash of really fast with snow or rain. But for ease of use and looks stoner puts out some great stuff.
That Stoners stuff is pretty nice... got a can when they had that crazy sale going on... All I can say is I wouldn't doubt it one bit if Cg relabeled the stuff...
Ive tried it on the trim of a ford edge and it still looks good. I applied it about over a month ago i think
Stoners should be a seperate entity. CG is cali-based while Stoner's is made in PA. I use trim shine and like it a lot.
