So, this is how my week started... braving the snowy roads of Colorado then sitting at Starbucks in Aspen. Left Denver early, hoping to stay ahead of this weeks snow storm, for a three day detail gig in the mountains. Since I'm a tad early I hang out before showing up at the client's house. The drive was fun... Getting my fix Working on two Merc that need some TLC (Put the point and shoot/highway camera away and move to the DSLR) Second morning here and I'm getting ready to start today's work in the hills...I'm walking from the guest house to the garage and the next door neighbor stops me and asks if I am detailing cars. I answer in the affirmative and he tells me that he needs a couple of his cars "corrected". Oh, oh...another potential client that knows the terminology...enough to be dangerous. He takes me over to his garage and now, three days in the mountains just turned into six or seven. Some people pay big $$$ to hang in Aspen for a week!!!!
Well, my first real "dilemma". I'm getting up, finishing my third cup of joe and realize that, after being here three days, I have no more clean clothes!!!:yikes: But, lo and behold, the guest house is bigger and nicer than my home. I'll sit back and have another cup of mud while I do some laundry!!:mounty:
Does your client give you a per diem or do you pay for your expenses out of pocket, but make up for it in the price of the job? It looks stunning there. Thanks for sharing. BTW, glad to hear that you picked up another client.
I used to live in Denver, Parker actually, and was just there in July and I MISS IT already!!! It never snows in Maryland. I want to move back someday. Can't wait for these write-ups!
I'm reimbursed for my out of pocket expenses. My travel time - going and coming - are billed at my hourly working rate. The client I initially came up for is allowing me to occupy his guest diggs for now. He will be into me for approximately 40 hours between his two cars + the 8 hour roundtrip drive time. The other will likely be into me for 50+ hours for his three cars. So, all-in-all, this will be a pretty worthwhile venture. But, the extra work is going to further put me behind on my scheduled work!!!!
dood!! you are one lucky bastad LOL i would think you would run out of supplies after 5 cars, if you only planned on 2. always good to plan for extra work. see i would do that, but i dont have ANY winter clothes. my idea of winter clothing is shorts, tennis shoes, tshirt and a beanie LOL. i couldnt deal with that much snow for more than a day!! even my wife made fun of me today, i've been sick as a dog and still going out. so today she gets my dickies beanie, to match my shorts and shirt, and says " i got your winter gear out"!!
Yeah, it's pretty cool up here. But, I would actually enjoy it if I had some time to hit the slopes!!! Almost tempted to bail on correction, slap on some glaze to fill in the defects and play in the snow!!!:yikes:
