    Congrats!

Trying to decide what to do for a new laptop myself. Love my IBM/Lenovo's, but always wanted to try a mac.

Yea I'm running my regular macbook and it's still very, very fast. It's only 2.4 GHZ and I don't even think I have 4GB and I've never had it slow down on me.

BTW I use Frostwire for music, and I get some from HipHopEarly.com. You can also download torrents, I do that when I want a full album. Since there are basically no viruses for mac, it's not something you really have to worry about.

BTW, I've had my Macbook since it first came out (the newest one) which I think is about a year and some, and my battery life is at 99% even though its been through 293 cycles. I'm really lazy about charging it.

I haven't used a Mac since high school, but I have iTunes and Safari on my home computer. Been using iTunes for almost 6 years. Love it. I want a mac so bad.

    GL and enjoy it!

I just want you and everyone else to know that the little handheld wireless register thingy at all the Mac stores is actually running WINDOWS.

Add the memory yourself, don't be a noob.

When I bought my MacBook, I was cheap and went with the $999 version of MacBook which came with 1GB of RAM at the time. Don't be a sucker and just buy the memory from NewEgg. Apple tries to rape you in the ass as hard as possible, so don't even bother buying anything but the laptop itself from the Apple Store.

Just watch out because you usually only have two memory slots available in a MacBook and the pre-installed memory already takes up both slots. So you're going to have to buy two new DIMMs, you're not adding to the existing memory, you're replacing it. And you want to go with two DIMMs or whatever because you want to take advantage of the DDR memory.

My little brother just got his 13.3" MacBook Pro in the mail the other day. It's quite an awesome upgrade from my MacBook. The aluminum style design is awesome and the illuminated keyboard looks and feels great. I always thought that my MacBook had a great keyboard, but the new MacBook Pro is much better. The power is really nice as well. You are really going to enjoy your new Mac, xfactor.

As crew mentioned, the battery cycling issue isnt an issue now with the newer style battery. In fact, Apple states that you can get something like 1000 charge/discharge cycles out of the new battery.

I have used Macs since the switch over to Intel, but sadly enough I never use OSX :yikes: I boot into Windows7 via boot camp 99.9% of the time, mainly b/c some poker software I use isnt compatible with OSX, so I never really adapted to the Mac operating system. I am sure I could find a cheaper Windows based laptop like a Dell or HP; however, aesthetically they aren't even close to the build quality of a Mac.

Look into parallels and Vmware which will allow you to run windows as a virtual machine. Its useful if you still have some Windows based programs you want to run. The other option is booting natively into Windows via bootcamp.

Hard to beat the quality and versatility of a Mac. Good luck and enjoy it :thumb:

I've got a mac, have had it for the past two or so years and love it...the switch took a bit to get used to but after a week or so I got the hang of it.

I use both PC and Mac and I personally prefer Mac's :thumb:

    You'll enjoy the Mac.

I'm sure I'll love it. I was hoping to get it tonight so I can do my IT homework but I can't. And since my current laptop didn't have the right program to do one assignment I got a big fat 0 on it. That brought me down for 88% to 17%. So I'm in dire need of it right now!

I've used the Macs and didn't like them in comparison. My desktop is pretty sick...

XPS Studio MT with 23 inch monitor
    Windows 7
    Intel i-7 920 2.66 Quad Core
    6 GB Tri Channel @ 1033
    640gb HD

all for about $1200 or less
