so i was thinking the other day are there any detailing booths at car shows? and if so where? Im looking to expand my cliental and was thinking of having a booth at a car show. Looking into it i found out to set up a both you have to pay (no biggie) but you also have to have a NJ tax ID (which i dont have). This was at the track in englishtown. Now Im wondering if any one on here has tried it out and had success or if anyone nearby NJ/NYC/PA is willing to share one with me maybe this upcoming spring. my friends and I have some pretty good ideas for demos also note to Nica, if this is considered advertising of any sort take it down and my apologies. mainly want some feedback on the idea.
hmmm. interesting idea. keep me posted. but ill be honest, im not too fond of the whole tax ID thing. i like my cash just the way it is.
I'm with blooshoes. Maybe see if you can share a booth with someone who has a tax number. Sounds ridiculous to me.
thanks man youre one of the few i had in mind to ask since your close by. the tax id is only for the englishtown car shows not sure how other tracks or places do it. yeh im looking to either find someone with a tax id or find a place that doesnt require one. i agree on the ridiculousness
wow that is weird that you need an ID number for a booth at car show. i have had a booth at a car show for my old shop, it was mostly to get the name out there. i say it was a push on the cost to what i sold that day. got some return customers, but not enough to continue paying to show up. i also gave out some cards for detailing, but never got any calls. i'd had more success going with car clubs. once you hook one, you get them all. and no one wants to be out done in a car club
True. Before I pulled the plug on side work, I was getting overwhelmed by work from my GTO club members. Do one car and do it right and they all come running.
ditto Spyral. You want the work before they are at the show. Generally if its a quality show the level of the cars is such they already have a detailer. We are flat out during the motorshow and various car shows but unless your selling product there really isnt a point setting up a booth unless its your own car your entering and have a sign up about the detailing too. You could just hand out some cards to the entrants and if you have done any of the cars have a sign up.
thanks for the responses guys. I should clarify a little on what kind of booth it would be. For example last year i was at the Formula D event at englishtown and all different types of vendors had booths up. then there was a whole different lot open for the show cars. my target audience is car enthusiasts who dont enter their cars in shows but want them to look good. I could be wrong and this could completely fail but I think its worth a try.
