hello im new here as of yesterday. i was wondering if anyone uses an absorber or a california water blade as a drying tool. i myself use an absorber then a regular microfiber towel afterwards. it seems easier to me but could this be unbenificial to my paint? please any input welcome
I started-off using a blade before I learned much better ways of drying the car. Bottom line is that for a blade, if just a tiny spec of dirt or sand gets trapped, you can mar your paint. I was lucky that I did reduce the damage by keeping it as clean as possible, wiping it clean after a few wipes. Straight motions, no circles or curves just straight motion. I used it mainly on the top of the car, top of the trunk and windows. Now that I've switched to good microfibers and ONR, I hardly use the blade. At most, the windows now but even then, I use a microfiber. In the end, I wasted some money. If you need to use it, I hope the tips above will help reduce the marring that could occur. Cheers
even if used properly couldnt a ww or plain microfiber marr your paint? they do hold onto anything like velcro. and pektel are you saying i should dry my car with popcorn? :shakehead: not that it would hurt it but its just to buttery for the finish i like hahahaha
It could happen. Think about this. With a microfiber the dirt or grit has someplace to go. With the blade., where is it gonna go?? Between the rubber and the paint. Why dont you do a poll and see how many use the water blade or absorber or ww or lg mf towel.
lol, no it's just every time this topic comes up, people get very adamant about NOT using a water blade. It was meant as a "I'm just going to sit back and watch this thread".
haha i see i actually am more intrested in input on the absorber. thank you for the info on the water blade as i was thinking about trying it. and pektel im on this forum thanks to you. we are on another forum together and i seen you bring this place up many times so im giving it a shot
also i have never dried with anything but an absorber exept terry cloth towels when i worked at a detail shop in 2001. haw many average size ww or mf towels does it take to dry off an average car.
As far as drying goes all I can say is leaf blower FTMFW! If you don't touch the paint you can't marr the paint...
gixxerboi it was taken on here so i couldnt use it. i blow out my nooks and crannys with my compressor. never thought of using it on the whole car, how many people actually use a method like this
