Wasnt going to post this one up seeing as I was very disappointed with the results. Car belongs to a friend of my dad's. His wife drives this car daily I believe as well as his daughter, so basically the car gets used a lot. We were going for a full detail on this car minus polishing for now. This package included exterior, interior and engine bay. The paint on the outside was heavily contaminated with fallout and tree sap. This sap unfortunately put up a fight and I sadly lost. I had not seen the condition of the car prior to delivery and I did not have any plastic razor blades to assist in the removal of the sap.Even CG's aggresive clay didnt work against this sap. I had to resort to a blow dryer to heat the sap up and an old credit cards to get some of it off. even after this some spots from the sap remained so i heated it up and applied some goo gone to remove as much as possible. The car had major swirls and RIDS as well as oxidized clear. What this car needs desperately is a good intensive polish, which the owner agreed would be done later if he decides to keep the car. the interior was also shot as was the engine bay. overall probably the filthiest car I have worked on to date. well here are the pics showing how bad the cars condition was. like i said i was very frustrated with this one seeing as it did not come out as planned. stupid me also forgot after pics of the engine bay :sorry: Wash: Gilmour Foam Gun CG Maxi Suds Megs #62 CG CWC Sheepskin Wash Mitt Two Bucket Method WW MF Drying Towel Larger MF Drying Towel Clayed: CG Medium Grade Purple Clay CG Synthetic Quick Detailer Trim: Black Wow Glass: Stoner's Glass Cleaner Wheels: P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner Wheel Brush EZ Detail Brush CG Silk and Shine LSP: PB Natty's Red Tools: Costco MF towels DD Uber MF Towels CG MF towels Sony Cyber Shot 7.2mp Goggles/Protective Eyewear Nitrile Gloves Befores: Afters:
Great work. Nice try with the sap too! I detailed 2 cars by the same owner and had the same problem. I even tried to wetsand the sap and had issues.
that was a nasty maxima. Don't put yourself down because you didn't like the outcome. I'm sure they were happy with it, it came out looking a lot better than before. Some details are better than others, don't be discouraged if you are.
Good job on the maxima. I have a 2003 and would cry if it looked like your before pictures. For the sap, next time look into some denatured alcohol as that usually works at dissolving it. I'm sure others will also have some other ways of removing it as well and will share some tips.
Wooow that came out looking awesome!!!!! That's a huuuge turnaround And dont be mad about the Sap that's the owners fault really not yours
Great work on that nasty maxima ... Does the owner leave the trunk open during Fall? I haven't seen so many freakin' leaves inside a trunk.
thnaks man this car def needed some wetsanding love i was drained plus my classes started a few weeks ago and i have to get up at 5am to get to my 7am class sometimes and its really affecting my sleep and overall energy. also the first night i had no help from my brother, so that added to me being tired. I usually have him help me with the basic stuff like claying and buffing off the lsp thanks, the sap is wut really messed me up. there was sap so baked on i think it was harder than the clear coat thanks, im looking into solutions and the best method of attack in case the owner goes through with the polishing job. Like i said i had not seen the car beforehand and was not ready for it. yeh i requested it not be parked under a tree anymore lol thanks and it seems as if he does lol there were rocks, leaves dirt, sand, you name it. thankfully for me that whole piece come off so i just took it outside slapped it around and vacuumed it up. incase any one is wondering for the after pictures of the trunk area, those specs of color are stains and things that could not be removed with normal cleaning and i had a time limit so other parts of the car where a bigger priority
Works really good :thumb: But you can use 3M Adhesive Remover, you can use Tardis...um...Tarminator...oh just to name a few
thanks carlos thanks man :thumb: thanks and i dont know how much a steamer would do when i hit it with a hair dryer at max heat. it was so hot that the surface of the car was still warm a minute later :gasp: Tried Tarminator no luck. I already told the owner if he wants to go through with the polishing im gonna have to order some Tardis from u lol thanks, looking at it now the wheels and paint look a little better so i guess it wasnt a total fail i always get the fog of the steamer on the glass and always forget to try it on that lol
