Wow... that looks fantastic TexasTB!!! :worship2: You are the man for setting up a detailing rig! :headbang: I see by your location you have moved? Hope all is going well for you and business is booming! :beerbang: Dave
Thanks everyone. I am currently in the van and working out of it. No current pics as of yet, because 1. I have been working 12+ hour days, and 2. I dropped my camera today... Hooray for butterfingers... :thud:
Looks great Chris...glad to see you back on again.....I must say..you are a good fabricator..all your projects come out nice after you find your perfect setup.... you have a granny shrimp storage area in there...LOL AL
Thanks AL. Yea, I do have a cooler in there somewhere for the Granny Shrimp! : I like building stuff. I actually thought about starting to build detailing trailers, but have no idea how strong the market would be for something like that.. (with all the other major builders out there) I'm happy with the van. Still working out a few bugs though. To be expected I guess.
Well, I forgot about updating this thread.:sorry: Here are some more pictures. From the back. "ALMOST" final... lol. still tinkering with it. water hookup split Built this box today to cover my tank and make it look a little cleaner in there . Needed more shelving, so this will do. Not done yet. I will be putting drawers on the passenger side, on top of this. Will also have railing going around to hold things in place so they don't roll around. Also thinking of making a bottle holder on top of it.
That is awesome Chris! You can always buy another van of the same price range, rig it out, then sell it as a cost efficient detailing van for someone looking to start out. Of course, you make a little profit off the deal!
Bringing this back as I just noticed something in your pictures that I am looking for. Where did you get the blue mesh 32 oz bottle holders on the rear door?
Very nice layout in your van. Lovin the fact that you hid your vac and put the port on that shelving wall. Being a used van, have you upgraded the shocks or anything? I would think that 65 gallons is alot of weight.
One gallon of water is 8.33 pounds, so 65 gallons weighs 541.45 pounds, no more than 3 adult males. I would say he is well within the limits of what the van car carry with ease. Looks like a slick set up!
I found them at Wal Mart a while back. Cannot seem to find them anymore. THOUGH, I went to HEB (A Texas Grocery Store) and they had yellow ones. tons of them. I picked one up. I changes my front shocks and installed air shocks on the rear. No problems. I want to upgrade the sway bars though. Thanks. I have done more, but need to take pics.
The van is rated for around 1300 lbs I believe. I had one before my current set up. I wound up putting air bags in the back when I went to a 100 gallon tank.
Wow, guess I really need to update this thread. SO much has been done, yet I am going to tear it all apart again to re-do it. Is that a sign I should just build detailing rigs? LOL
You and me both. I'm selling my Savana and going back to an Astro. This'll be my fourth van and 7th interior setup. Just can't leave well enough alone! lol:crasy:
damn i really need a dedicated van for detailing. i am getting tired of putting my skid in and out of my suburban. but since it is portable and light weight its not bad. i'm thinking of doing a dual set up, eco friendly and conventional washes for the fleets. i just want a long astro van, i think xl or something. i really like the shelves, way more storage than i have with my milk crates. oh well at least i dont need a water tank
I'm looking for a van right now to setup.. gotta find the right deal This thread has given me lots of good ideas!
