Hi everyone. Here is the story: My car is covered all over in swirl marks, they are quite deep. So it's going to get a re-spray in 1.5 months from now. Seeing as the paint will be fairly new, I don't see the need to have to use one different product for each step (but you can convine me otherwise), so I am wanting to know, which All-in-one product will serve well in: 1. Protecing the new finish 2. Shine 3. Durability Note: I have heaps of JetSeal leftover which I will be using (so preferrentially, the product won't contain cleaning chemical etc. that will interfere with the JetSeal) I've heard great things about EagleOne NanoWax ?? I've used the Klasse Combo in the past, it was really great, but I think it's probably better for old paint.
Whoah whoah whoah. Everytime you get some deeper swirls you respray? Have you ever tried correcting them/having them corrected with a machine polisher?
No I haven't. Tried doing the whole car 5 times with Autoglym SRP (which is supposed to be great on swirls) and it did next to nothing. I've heard that correcting with a machine polisher is not a permanent solution. The paint has many stone chips and and scratches here and there too (which could probably be touched up). And the swirls are pretty deep, you can feel them.
OH. Okay. I read your post wrong, thinking you had relatively fresh paint that was already swirled and you were thinking of respraying. You can still try to correct them/have them corrected. If you respray then drive the car around you're going to get more stone chips and scratches over time But, I'll go ahead and try to answer the question. When I wax my car, I usually lay down 2 or 3 coats of JetSeal, and 2 coats of RBOE. That's about it for protecting. Once I can see the shine start to go down I'll either apply more RBOE, or if I'm pressed for time use CG Blitz (which I love) My future wife (holy crap that is coming up) gets 2 coats of jetseal if she's lucky. Which reminds me. I still have to wash her car. She's been hounding me for a couple weeks. busybusybusybusybusybusybusy
SRP is just a filling product and cant take care of swirls. Machine polishing is a permanent solution as it will get rid of them, but new ones can appear as times goes on. But as you say you can feel the imperfections then that will take some serous work and might as well re-spray if it is a older car and would need major work. Just know that once you re-spray that you can machine out swirls as long as you dont let them get bad to were you can feel them. Post up some pics if you done mind of what you are working with!
AIOs are for the most part chemical cleaners and don't contain enough abrasives to help with the swirls and scratches. You can either: A. Buy a polisher and some med. abrasive polish or compound (depending on how bad it is). This will be a permanent fix because it's literally buffing the clear coat smooth. Finish up with a finishing polish to restore the gloss, and then top it with some wax/sealant. This might not get everything out, but probably enough to where you don't need to get a respray B. Take it to professional and they'll do the same
I think he's looking for an AIO that covers: Like he said in his post. Personally I'm a fan of KAIO but others have theirs and it's really what you like, I don't think you can really go wrong if you use any from one of the better dealers. Never read a bad thing about Jetseal, I'll get some when I use up my Klasse, but I really like how KAIO works on plastics too!
Jetseal isn't an AIO though, it's just a sealant. Though I agree Klasse AIO is my personal favorite. I'm currently trying out Menzerna Acrylic Jacket and it's an AIO (a mix of FP II and FMJ). It leaves the surfaces a bit slicker than the KAIO, but it really needs a polisher to use it to its full potential. KAIO you can use by hand and still get excellent results as with a polisher.
Thats true, but for the full effect and durability it's best to top it with a sealant and the Klasse SG is somewhat hard to use, I have it and I think it looks alright but I would rather use a wax, just my 2ยข. On a side note, I'd like to know how the FMJ works for you I might get some :thumb:
Whether sealant or carnauba, my wife doesn't allow me to wax her at all. She prefers the natural look. I'm glad to see that your gal is so accommodating. Does she permit you to wax her car, too?
@Cobra: True, i thought you were implying that Jetseal was a an AIO. But I completely agree that Klasse HGSG is tricky to work with. I think there are much better sealants out there. I haven't used pure FMJ before, but this Acrylic Jacket product is a mix of it with Final Polish II and I really like it so far. Leaves the surfaces very slick, and seems to be quite durable so far. I'm going on 2 weeks with no noticeable loss of slickness.
By hand I use a Microfiber applicator to give it a bit more bite. By machine (FLEX) I use a white polishing pad. It's good for removing swirls and spiderwebbing, but for RIDS your going to need something more aggressive.
