Nice job. Now the surrounding OP needs to be wet sanded.

Awesome work, I'm doing the same thing soon to my rear bumper, great job. 2000 grit right? I'm surprised you got such a good finish without a yellow pad.

Very nice. You have some serious stones to be wetsanding that near to a panel edge. I'd be scared the clear was thinner there.

Sorry to be the devil's advocate here, but I don't think wetsanding was required. You should always start with the least aggressive step and work your way up from there. You should have been able to correct it to 95% with removing much less clear coat by compounding. I've dealt with a couple of these before and haven't felt the need to wetsand them. Also, just to be clear you took out the holograms you left right?

All I'm saying is that you should at least have tried a lighter approach first, you'll be suprised at how much will come out.

Here's an example. Same situation, after ONE pass of Uber Green/PO203S. After another pass(not pictured) it came out to about 97% correction, I left the scratches on the edge towards the tire there, because some barely noticeable scratches are better than striking through and rusting.

good for you for trying something new but I agree with Darkstar...especially since you were at an edge...you could have easily gone through the clear and still may have taken the clear to a dangerous level...I understand it's getting turned in at the end of the lease. Always try the least aggressive approach and move up. That would have been a great time to take thickness readings too just to know what you're dealing with. I'm not trying to crap on you...I just don't want to see it backfire on you. At least now you know there's no mystery to it and in the future you can do it again if the situation calls for it.

I guess just to be clear. I went with 2 passes of M105 on the 4" Orange pad before resorting to wetsanding. It hardly made a dent in the scratches. A fairly lengthy phone conversation ensued with the owner of the truck and my buddy asured me that I might as well give it a shot, as it would be going for a re-spray if things didnt work out.

FWIW the holograming was cleared up w/ a pass of m205 on a Black LC pad.

    Thanks for the constructive discussion!
