Hey everyone so i know its a little premature but im sick of my 2008 Lancer. Great car for the price but its just so cheaply made and i have a modding addiction (tasteful modding). Im looking to change it up and get a new car in 1.5 - 2 years. My dream car was the 2009 Lancer Evo X but due to my bad experience with Mitsubishi im looking at other cars for now and im hoping i can get ur opinions. here are the cars im considering and why:

    08-09 BMW M3
    pure sexyness
    fast
    sporty yet luxurious

    Audi A5
    very nice looking
    all wheel drive
    refined yet sporty

    Mercedes Benz C350 Sport
(this is just a random one)
    all wheel drive

i was leaning towards the M3 because of looks but its RWD so prob not since it snows here and even my lancer struggles with its FWD.

Now im strongly considering the A5 but i keep hearing about audis and their electrical problems and i read that it lacks the power or similar cars like the BW 3 series and the G37

    any input is appreciated. thanks

I personally love the A5, but if your looking for power you should def. go with the M3 or check out the next step up from audi which would be the S5. Another great option is with the BMW's the 335i with just a couple bolt ons (juice box, intakes, down pipes) will be faster believe it or not than an e92 M3. And plus with the 335i being twin turbo you just can't beat the cool factor.

I'd go with the M3, my dream car . What mods do you plan on adding to the car that you get?
May I ask what you didn't like about the lancer? - I'm saving up for my first car and the lancer was one of the ones I was looking at.

    M3 all the way!!

With a set of good winter tires you will be fine. I am on my 3rd RWD sporty car (one BMW) and I am in Canada with LOTS of snow. No issues as long as you are running on quality winter tires. Get the RWD for sure!!!!!!

seriously consider Audi S5. Dude, those killer wheels of S5 look so stunning!!! The car itself is sex on wheels! I really like M3, I really do, but these new S5s look even better!!! And yes, it's AWD.
And by the way, there is no way in hell I'm purchasing a Mitsubisi...

^ i like the sound of that im looking to spend less than 40,000 if possible and i figured by then i could get a certified preowned e92 m3. Im going to look into the 335i now that you mention the twin turbo :) i love the vrrrrooom pssshhhhh lol

Mods are really up to what i find tasteful and useful to the car. For something like the M3 i think its fine as is, or until i can find something that affects my driving such as suspension and ride. I would probably just do cosmetics on the M3, like tints, tinted tail lights, wheels and thats pretty much it. For the A5 i was looking at videos and sound clips of it with a stasis exhaust?? i believe and it sounds amazing for a V6. So that and cosmetics would be my choice.

And here my rant about my lancer lol

I have a love/hate relationship with my lancer. I cannot complain as I did get it as a surprise gift from my father but i would have loved to have waited for the ralliart to come out and have gotten that for a few thousand more. Dont get me wrong it is an amazing car for the money but it just lacks so much that I feel could have been added in. For example biggest issue right now. LACK OF POWER! It doesn't deliver when I need to get it on a highway (even with my SRI Intake). Also the fact its just FWD and not AWD. And then theres the Mitsubishi Service at most dealerships. Plain and simple it sucks. The pros i can think of are that is preforms so well on turns i forget its FWD until theres rain or snow :/

Dont want my rant to get too long but if you want ore info to help u pick your first car shoot me a PM and ill be glad to help you as good as i can.
P.S. Off the lot its an ugly car IMO lol heres a before and after of my lancer:

I would consider the S5 but the price tag is making me lean towards the A5. And amen about buying a Mitsu. Only car i would buy from them is the Evo

That things a beast. And also ridiculously expensive :)

Well considering I live in Seattle, I won't be buying that car :giggle: Thanks for helping me rule that one out :p

Oh and +1 on the Bimmer 335, there is one currently up for sale on E46forums and it makes me happy as hell:gasp: just to look at it - I can't even imagine driving it.

M3 hands down, I can't get enough of it. The performance is unbelievable and it looks amazing. The V8 is a monster, great torque and it's so fast. I'm not a fan of the SMG transmission, so I test drove a 6 speed manual 09 sedan and man it's just awesome. I think the hard decision isn't whether to decide between the 3 cars you've listed, it's deciding if you want your m3 to be a coupe/sedan, which transmission, what color interior and exterior. :D

If you can afford go with an M3. But I think the best bang for the buck would be an Infiniti G35/G37 Sedan. You can get an 07/08 G35 Sedan for cheaper than an 09 G37 Sedan. They're virtually the same car other than the engine swap. Most people don't notice the power difference. That and the G37 has a 7 speed transmission. I'd go with an 08 G35 Sedan, you can pick one up at a decent price I'm sure. That or wait till 2010 and Infiniti is uping the power I think by 50 ponies or so...

I really like audis interior so i would have gone with the S5 or the RS4 if i could
afford. The BMW M3 is nice I tested one for a couple of years ago and the seats
are great. Do you not have any need for 4-doors? How about a Mercedes SL?

few friends of mine had Eclipse back in the days (95-99), back when it was good looking, those that had GS-X (turbo, AWD) had blown up rear differential. My uncle had Diamonte ('95, back in 95 as he bought it new), and with 5 years of ownership nothing but trouble...this breaks, that breaks...and the car was not that ugly looking...new Mitsu doesn't attrack my attention, I prefer something more pretty...
and speaking of S5, don't buy it BRAND new, maybe there is one or two on the lot that are 1-2 years old with pretty low milage on them...this will make you AFFORD one of them...
those S5 wheels are a must!
If you like bodystyle, check out Lexus IS-F...Test drive it at least...Very dependable, and is NOT CHEAP looking inside...

i am an avid BMW person, but i'd go for an S5 too. that thing looks beastly. i am willing to bet it's a terrible machine to maintain though

S5s are slow compared to the M3. however I'm curious to know of the pricing you're finding on the M3's because there's no way an RS4 is more expensive (get a slightly used one for $50k give or take).

S5's look really cool, and they are. One of my regular clients has one. But they aren't really that fast compared to M3's and RS4's. They're more of a GT Touring Coupe then an all out performance machine. After doing a quick Autotrader search, you can find lightly used M3's and RS4's for the same price (~$50-55k). So now, since the RS4 is "in the price range" would you reconsider? :p

If I had the budget for an 08-09 M3, I'd go directly to the Mercedes-Benz dealer and get a C63 AMG.

out of your choices, I like the A5.

However if you really want AWD and your price range is under 40k, anything preventing you from considering a Subaru Legacy GT, or WRX or STI?

Reliability, AWD and better quality than Mitsubishi.

Looks depend on the person but just providing some additional options.

The G37 is a good looking fast car but EVERYONE in Northern NJ has one lol its annoying to see the same car you have driving around, at least it is for me, especially when i see and grandma in a Lancer GTS the same color as my car :yikes: since i the A5 came out ive actually only seen maybe 2 around here. Ive actually seen more GTRs and R8s than A5 lol

I dont really have a need for 4doors and the SL is something that my dad might buy for himself and so i see it as a car i would drive when im older

Mitubishis arent the worse cars, i actually much rather have a mitsu over a honda but yes the older models did have many problems. The problems with my car are small and have been fixed easily its just the service at the dealership sucks and im tired of it. I remember walking into an Audi dealership after going to the gym with my friend. We were in sweats and tanks and believe it or not the whole dealership treated us like royalty asking if we need help right away and seeing if we wanted to test drive a brand new S4. Thats the quality and service im looking for.

Im shooting for an used M3 around $40,000 by then. Although not to sound snobby or anything but my father disapproves or buying used cars. He luckily has the $ and buys cars new, and this has rubbed off on me as well. So a brand new A5 for $40k is sounding good.

Unfortunately i dont have the budget lol at least not yet

I know it seems like i dislike Mitsubishi but from having the lancer and loving the Evo im on the Mitsu side when it come to the Suby Mitsu rivalry lol plus im trying to stay away from japanese cars an more towards a european car. Trying to be fancy lol jk
