Has anyone seen this from a 1000p? I just received this tin a few months ago, and have used it on all my cars. It was fine when it was new, but after some use, the top layer is separating from the bottom layer. It appears to be disintegrating in small pieces and makes it difficult to work with. It has always been stored inside my house in an air conditioned room. I have not seen this from any of my paste sealant/waxes before. Any ideas?
Not that uncommon actually. That has happened to my P21s100% and it does not affect performance. I do agree though that it can make it a bit harder to work with, but nothing to be worried about. You can always work with the pieces by applying by hand instead or rubbing them onto the applicator.
Ok, then it isn't just me! I don't know how many pieces have fell victim to my garage floor though. I have not tried applying with my hand, but I will give that a shot next time. I e-mailed FK1 so I will see what they say about it.
Haha! Yeah, that's frustrating, loosing pieces. Just make sure you are not picking those up and using them on your paint. :yikes:
If you would like just take those top pieces put them in a another container for now. You can always melt the pieces and put them into a smaller 2-3oz container to use it out of if you dont like the broken off pieces.
There is a temperature range were the solvents will gas off to a point were yes it will make it hard to work with. If you keep the heat low and keep a eye on it you will not gas off a considerable amount and you will still hold the same spread-ability as before melting the wax. Key is to heat it slowly and use as little heat as possible.
I have heated AM ez paste wax and it was the same as before. It was all messed up in the can and I wanted a perfectly smooth tin of wax. I have never seen a difference in performance.
To me it seems that it was a classic "end-of-batch" tin. The filling machine runs out of wax during pouring, the wax starts to cool and harden and then a bit later they top it. The top therefore can separate from the bottom layer. No biggie. Performance will be the same. You can melt it back with a hairdryer.
