About 9:00 PM this evening my buddy 'G' called me in a panic saying that as he was driving underneath an overpass when someone threw a large piece of concrete off of the overpass. ( Girard by the I95N/Richmond/Aramingo interchange for the Philly dwellers) It impacted directly on the windshield at about 40 MPH. He was shaken but unharmed. When he drove to my work, which was less than a mile away and showed me the damage, this is what I saw..........

The only positive I see is your friend is O.K. and it didn't do any damage to the Pillars or Roof :applause2:

    Glad to see he's okay!!

We deal with this with what seems likely a few months basis her at our semi shop. Just had one come in after a 2 kids tossed to cement blocks over the over pass. One brick went through the fiberglass roof between the top of the windshield and "sunroof" type glass on the roof. It landed his sleeper bed after slamming the rear wall. The other brick went through the front of the roof of the trailer and went flying back in the trailer. It smashed right through the rear door and out onto the highway. Luckily no one was following him close or it would have been a different outcome.

I don't like to talk about it as it brings back bad memories, but one of my best friends daughter died this way. They tossed a brick over the overpass and it landed right in the passenger seat where she was. I still can't imagine the pain and shock he went through. Ill never understand why people do such things.

This happened in Ontario last year. Someone was driving across one of the major highways at around 100km/h or 60mi/h and someone dropped a piece of concrete off an overpass. Needless to say, she survived, but barely, and suffered from serious facial disfigurement.

What is wrong with people these days? These people should be sentenced to some serious punishment.

If I ever saw anyone do this, I would beat their faces with the piece of concrete until their own mothers didn't recognize them.

The bad thing is, they never catch these fucking scumbags...

That's why I'm always watching who's on the bridge when I'm going under them. The good thing is, here in Texas, on most overpasses, you cannot walk. Only drive.

Yikes, that's crazy. I'll actually be in that area next Monday to meet a client.

I must say, I'm impressed how well the windshield held up :applause: - a large piece of concrete, dropped from an overpass and hitting a windshield at 40 MPH... well, I'd expect for it to bash right through the glass - not "just" create a handful of starbursts (one big one, and a handful of little ones) like what happened here. Kudos on the strength of that safety-glass!! :thumb:

    Front and Girard.

He is havivng the windshield replace this morning. He was happy the concrete only hit the windshield and not any other part of the car.
