Hey guys, now that summer is here and I have, well, way too much free time. I've been searching for a job. I have been looking/applying for about a month now, with no luck. With that being said, do you have any suggestions for me? I've found it difficult being I'm not yet 18, which puts me out of the running for the majority of jobs, and having no prior work experience. If you could give me any advice it'd be much appreciated, I've been scouring craigslist, yahoohotjobs, ect. No bites. I'm not picky, if it pays minimum wage, and gives a decent amount of hours I'll do it.
Golf course? Pool? Depending on how desperate you are, stuff like fast food, dishwashers...i know not glory jobs but sometimes we have to do what we have to do.
I've applied to the local country club for a caddy job, but no reply yet. I don't really expect one though, they have a history of only hiring the kids of the current members. I've also applied at the local pools, but most of those jobs have been taken already, unfourtunately. I'm just not sure what else to apply too
You've got to know someone who knows someone to get in to ANYTHING these days. Doctors are applying to be Starbucks Baristas, Bank Managers to Tellers. It's just the way economy is going. So you have to get friendly with the people/management at somewhere you want to work. That's what I did, and I don't even have to submit an application before they'd want to hire me. seems like an obvious recommendation that hasnt come up..how about a car dealership as a detailer. Or porter or anything else for that matter?
I've been there. I dunno if it was where I worked, but being a porter/ "detailer" was insanely horrible. The cars were trashed, wanted you to work miracles in 1 hour flat, and would bitch if you turned the car back at 1hr 1 minute for be late and possibly ruining a sale. The wash/water/soap all that stuff is crap and it just drove me nuts knowing I was getting paid to screw up peoples cars, because for my own business, I wouldn't do that. But I couldn't convince the service manager to change their ways because it was "too expensive". Sure enough.. that dealership closed down :lol:
