Recently detailed a Black Honda Accord that was re-paint a month ago. I started compounding with lcc pfw and m105. Next, i tried finishing with m205 and lcc css white pad on the makita and it looks pretty decent under a 500w halogen lamp and some in house fluorescent lighting. However, 2 days later when it was inspected under direct sunlight, there were light swirls around. I am very puzzled how did the halogen lights missed the swirls initially. So the questions are will Lcc css black pad and m205 provide some cutting in soft paint? Do the swirls possibly return after some time? Is it possible that the paint is so soft that I actually marr it when i apply collinite 476 with my meg yellow foam pad?
If it's the first time you've used m205, it might be possible that you didn't break the polish down all the way and the oils filled in the swirls temporarily. Did you do an ISO wipedown?
Not the first time i used m205. I used AG fast glass instead of iso wipedown. Has anybody tried m205 with lcc css black pad? Will it give it some cut on soft paint?
okay, this is just a guess, but perhaps it was too big of a jump between pfw/105 and black/205. i.ve never used either one, so i don.t know how well 105 finishes, or how much 205 cleans up.
I tried m105 with many pads variation from lcc double side wool, pfw, meg cutting pad(maroon), lcc css orange, green and white and it is flexible and finish down really good. If black with m205 can offer some cut on soft paint, it should be able or remove what is left behind. At least it is worth trying.
Read all Dave K posts he mentions how the halogens are ok for viewing defects but something equal to a 3M sun gun is needed to make 100% sure all holograms are gone. Try some UF or 85rd?
M205 is going to leave slight holograms with a white pad. The black pad would be a better choice to finish with.
