I'm working on a 2003 Mercedes S class and I'm appalled at how thin the paint is! I'm getting readings on the high side of 110 and the low at the 70's. There is a scratch in a passenger door that has paint readings in the 60's. I tried a minimalist approach which of course is doing nothing to correct the problem but I don't want to go throught the clear. Am I ever glad I bought my new Power finish. That and a white pad is not affecting the readings but is making it look a lot better. THANK GOD I BOUGHT THAT HIGHLINE METER!!! If anyone is contemplating one, let me tell you, this is the last car I ever thought I'd have this problem on..it just goes to show you that you never know what you're dealing with and as the cliche goes: Better safe than sorry. Has anyone else run into this with Benzes? There was no evidence that it was ever buffed out before and there were no swirls or holograms and just the normal light scratches. I think it came from the factory this way..it's the silver metallic colour that is so popular.

I was going to buy yet another lens for my camera (The last lens I bought just arrived today).

I should really buy a highline II first.

Not on a Benz but both Infiniti G37s I've done had readings no higher than 65 on the roofs.
