Griot's - anything worthwhile?

As I'm sure a lot of us do, I get the Griot's catalog, and I always at least thumb through it. The only thing I've got from them is their "Ultimate Wash Bucket," and I have to say...that thing kicks butt. Best bucket ever.

There are a couple new items in the new catalog that I'm wanting to pick up. There's a collapsible travel bucket that looks really clever. And there's a backpack, which has a frame of some sort attached to it that converts it into a seat. Both of these items would be really useful for me at meets, autocrosses, the racetrack, etc.

So, as ever...it got me thinking about their actual detailing products. Anybody ever try them? Anything worth picking up?

I know there are some who think Chemical Guys makes their stuff, but I've also read that's not true. I believe it was here on DB that we had a guy say he's actually toured their factory.

    Anyway...any thoughts?

what about their clay? We had a car show locally that Griots was at and I had a friend pick me up some, has anyone used their clay?

Their stuff is nice but really overpriced for what you get in the products line. They have a lot of nice/neat tools for detailing but the products, for the price, you can get better elsewhere. Griots sort of reminds me of the "Sharper Image" store for detailing.

My brother bought alot of their stuff in gallons years ago and for the most part it works very well. He mostly got cleaners and dressing and I tell you what they work well.

The wheel cleaner is pretty decent, not really good for tough jobs but good for light cleaning or wheels that need a very mild cleaner. The bucket is pretty cool, just dont know if i can justify spending that much for a bucket when I can get 5 gal buckets for free, and grit guards cost $10.

I know, $40 is a big ask for a bucket. I thought so too. But the wheels are great - bucket dollies are at least $20, I think more than that. I like the little shelf on the top - very useful. And the bucket is useful for storing stuff in it on your way somewhere - brushes, sponges, heck, even chemicals. It's really handy.

I may have to try Speed Shine, AR. You're not the first to tell me that it's a good QD.

Story time. My uncle went to his class in Indy. He was giving a demostartion and telling everyone how great his stuff was and then my uncle goes this all good and well but my nephew told me that I could have bought the pc from someone else for alot less and better products. The guy ask what products and he told him Menzerna, Pinnacle and so on and that he wanted some money back or he was going to announce it in the class. The guy goes look, my products can't touch those and what will it take for you not to say anything to the class. He goes I REALLY like speedshine, needless to say he walked out of there with a case of speed shine. I thought that was classic.

I have never used it myself and my uncle is very anal about his cars and bikes and if he says it works well I will go with that.

Like Speed Shine myself - nice smell to it, and leaves a nice slickness behind.

I would not call it awesome. I would call it something else but he should not have gone to the class with that kind of attitude.

How about them selling Oakley's car washing shoes? I have never seen that before.

I tried their Engine Detail Spray and I didn't like it at all. Basically it was like a cheap clearcoat. I'll never use it again. Their Tire Shine gives a nice flat look but it doesn't last too long.
I like their detailing and car tools, accessories etc.

I bought nearly the entire line. That is before I found this place. In my opinion, the polishes are not that good for paint. I found them to be great for polishing chrome on my bike. The wheel cleaner works for maintenance washes, but not on real dirty wheels.

The dried on wax remover sucks! I use the spray on wax as a drying aid. The spray on car wash works well, as does Speedshine. I hate the vinyl and rubber dressing. The Best of Show wax does not add anything to the paint.

    Just my opinion, though. :2cents:

Yes I use there Yellow Clay almost exclusivally,(When my Riccardo Source is out)

It is by far the Best Clay on the U.S. Market IMHO

    Groits+ Sharper Image >>>LOL, True...

These are the following Groits products I currently use

    1) Yellow Clay
    2)Speed Shine
    3)Car Wash Soap
    4)Fine Hand Polish
    4)Best of Show
    5)Paint Sealant

I do not use these products on a daily basis,(Except the Clay) as they are a bit pricey. But Groits certainly makes 1st Class Products
