Its been a while since I have been on Detailing Bliss, have to say I've been missing the forum, but its been a busy few months for me, PhDs take over your life! Have done a few things in my absence, including passing an advanced driving test, and burning my fingers with Liquid Nitrogen (oops ), but the most important thing I have done is asked my wonderful girlfriend to marry me And she said yes! Probably seems a bit strange posting pics of the engagement ring you give your fiancee, but this one has a special story to it which meant it was designed as a one off, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out so I thought I'd share a couple of pics The diamond came from Diane's grandmother in her engagement ring, but there was no way we could get that ring to fit - but wanting to keep it "in the family", we took the decision to design a new ring around the diamond... Using Rose Gold (suits pale skin tones very well), this is what we came up with: Designed by Diane and I together, it was a lot of fun and the jeweler was superb in helping us turn out "back of the envelope" sketches into a reality A final pic, showing the ring Diane gave to me as well - standard Claddagh ring:
Congrats! Wish you two the best and the ring does look very nice! Cool that you two did the design on it and used her grandmothers diamond! So you going to go into jewelry detailing as well now
Nah, Diane wont let me near the ring with any of my car gear lol Cheers Marc, will be a journey for sure - question is, where will we end up staying - UK or US? Going to be a great adventure whatever happens though No, thats just a pillow
Congrats on the Engagement....:headbang: When you have more time I would like to here about the Liquid Nitogen Burn.:giggle:
Small lab accident... Put on the wrong gloves (not waterproof), plunged my hand into a bucket of nitrogen to retrieve and load a sample into my spectrometer, and the glove fingers filled with liquid. My thumb went numb, got trapped for about 6 or 7 seconds and came out the glove white, steaming and solid. Rewarmed over a period of hours, treated for Frost Bite. I was very lucky, the blister came up clear, which meant only superficial and nerve damage but nothing terminal. I have no feeling in the thumb just now, but the nerves will grow back - as said, I was told I was lucky to still have the thumb as it was immersed for a long time.
congratulations Dave ! So many of my friends are getting married. It's just crazy but I am so happy for them as I am for you !
