ive got a major problem guys. the problem ive got is ive got an exterior detail on a sl55 amg in a mid blue metalic thats pending until me and the client are happy with the choice of lsp. im of the opinion that rubbish boys OE followed by dodo juoced edition will do a cracking job but hes always had zymol details and hes besotted by zymol now so im trying to break him away but the decision is complicated as the market is so varied and wide and with this ive been looking at CG jetseal, karlack, CG petes 53, collinite marque d'elegance and doublecoat, and now someone has mentioned duragloss bonding agent followed by DG111 clear coat:yikes:............im confused as hell:shead: but its imperitive the right choice is made. all help is very, very welcome.:thumb:
What is he wanting, durability or looks?? I know nothing about zymol, but have read alot about the RBOE, and the DoDo...what maintenance will be kept on the vehicle after your done with it??
Do a coat of Jetseal followed by a coat of Rubbish Boys OE and he will never mention Zymol to you again. I have used this several times and the look is nothing short of phenomenal.
hes wanting the looks, depth and durability. i use loads of dodo juice including on this guys cars and hes always been happy but now its crunch time and his first paint correction/detail by me and not an authorised or zymol detailer hes a little apprehensive. ive assured all will be fine and only the best is what his car will get.........if someone will let me loose on a 1932 hot rod im sure i can cope with this sl55. down to durability im considering sealants and jetseal is at the top at the moment but im sure my client is more conceraned about the cost and how little it is for jetseal rather than a vast amount more for zymol or SV. im trying to educate him about the science not the cost and that valuable prep time i:e the correction on the paint is far more imperitive. as for maintenance i visit him every 2 weeks so this will still stand and be done via 2 bucket wash method.
LSP choice only matters a small amount, some would disagree with me, but this is coming from someone who bought Swissvax Concorso. Just go with what the client wants.
I will partially agree with this statement, from a consumers stand point, if I want something that you are providing to me, then give it to me, let me get burnt by my decision, and then later come back and tell you that you were right. I'm sure with your correction ability, anything will look amazing.
I would have to agree with mrgolfrider. It is your ability to correct the paint that will sell the LSP. The thirty dollar colli would look great on a well prepped vehicle. None the less, good luck with the choice and the customer.
Scott, may I assume that the reason you are trying to break him away from the Zymol is because you do not presently own a tub of the Zymol wax that your client prefers? Would your client be willing to purchase a tub of Zymol for himself? I mention this only because IF your client truly prefers Zymol, then this puts you in a difficult situation. Even if you polish the paint perfectly, even if the non-Zymol wax/sealant you two agree upon looks cracking, he may still blame you because the paint does not, in his eyes, look the same as what he is used to. When it comes to matters so subjective as favorite waxes, it's always best to adopt the position that the customer is always right. Your personal preference here is really irrelevant. I confess it's difficult for me to understand your client's attitude here. After all, it's not as if his car will be locked into RBOE forever. If he is unhappy with it, you can apply something different on your next visit, which is only two weeks away. But we are all very personal and possessive about your favorite vehicles, aren't we? Cheers, Al
Maybe grab a tub of Glasur, and add a couple bucks to the detail and/or maintenance contract to defray some of the additional expense? Agree that you should probably accept this client's eccentricity on this topic... otherwise, he may just go out and find someone else who will. YMMV.
i did actually ponder on the whole letting him choose and buy the product himself and i would applly and use on the regular top up intervals but hes just as confused now so thats why im researching more into the finishing product. im a very big follower of dodo juice and find its reasonable money spent though myself and my client are both curious with all the others on the market, him more so than me as i said before some waxes are £12-20 then there are others at £100-280+ whats so special? ive found in experience that the price tag isnt everything and there is some serious competitors at low end budget prices. im still looking into the karlack sides of things. my waxe list is dodo juice rainforest rub, SN, juiced, orange crush, poorboys blue natty paste, RBOE, meguiars mirror glaze paste wax, meguiars gold class paste wax and turtle wax original paste ( which is good and cost me £3 ) im way more in the aggreance of the correction will produce the great canvas for the finishing touch, its now which one will cut the grain with finish and duability.
right........... ive spoke to my client and offered him the alternatives of buying his choice of zymol wax, his choice of zymol detailing kit with choice of wax or trust me and go with CG ez cream, cg jetseal and topped with juiced edition, i will find out what he wants thsi sunday.:thumb:
