So i got my order from AG this afternoon, Dodo's Nuba Canister. I wanted to see how the Juiced and OE Rubbish boys was so i qd-ed a panel on my car and took out the PC and used 106FF on a white pad to get a good base and then did a IPA wipe down. I applied the two waxes side by sad. To be honest hard to tell the difference between the two but will check up on durably and do a write up. But anyways i was cleaning up and was spilled some water on my MFs and noticed it repelled water! Nope, did not soak it up at all just beaded on there, so i thought oh it may be from wiping off the wax, so i opened up my stash of Mfs and put some water on them and all of them repealed water even my ww drying towel, used it last week to dry off the car. All of them from my Cobra ww, cobra deluxe ones, the only ones that didn't were the vroom ones i just bought today and washed. I normally wash all my mfs in micro-restore on hot water. So in a panic i put them all in the wash right now with some Tide Free with some vinegar in the fabric softener compartment, i never use the compartment for fabric softeners. Before i put this load in i ran the washer with some soap to make sure everything was cleaned. But i think i am pretty much screwed and will need to replace of them as i think they are messed up. I hope you guys have some good news for me. btw, how are the vroom mfs, they are the 12 pack were you get white and gray ones? I thought they were pretty soft, they are a 80/20 blend. Was going to get them just for the inside and door jambs but now may have to use them to remove polishes and what not. Ok that's end of my rant sorry for it being so long!
I just bought some of the vroom ones from target. For under a buck a piece, you can't go wrong. But I don't use them on paint. I use them on jambs/wheels.
I was hoping i could use them to remove first step of polish/compound. But i will do the scratch test on a sample panel i have with a soft clear. If it does then use it on wheels, dash and what not.
Personally, I pre-soak all my MFs for a WHILE. I fill a bucket with hot water, then add my favorite CG MF wash to it. I let them sit for a good HOUR. You cannot believe the DIRT that comes from them. After it's soaked, no more repelling from waxes or any other build up. Then, in the washing machine they go for the final wash!
Just like P1et mentioned, always best to wash your microfibers before first use. Just like you wouldn't wear new clothes without washing them first.
I do always run the MFs through the wash before I use them for the first time, but the main problem as I said is the older ones are just beading water when its its poured on. I ran them all through the wash a few times with Tide Free and some vinegar with hot water and its gotten better. I will soak them in micro restore tomm and will have to order some new MF cleaner as i am almost out. I am guessing CG is the most recommended?
I am surprised the hot water didn't do the trick unless you didn't always use hot water to clean them. I always use hot water and have never had a problem.
I have read not to use hot water, to use hot water so i normally washed in warm with cold rinse. After contacting a few manuf. and what not its been recommended to use hot water. It is almost as if the towels were washed, they would soak up water only if i "squeezed" it in, its difficult to explain but if i turn a faucet on and put the towel under it the water would just bead up. Oh well, i try a few more thing and hopefully be able to see you guys what worked if this ever happens to anyone.
