Tonight I started a test of Jetseal 109 versus Menzerna FMJ.

This is on the trunk of my '01 Audi S4 (Silver).

The car was cleaned with Adams Car Wash, clayed with Adams Detail Spray and Gray clay.

I then polished with some Menz PO85rd and a Uber Blue Finishing pad.

2 wipedowns with Menz Top Inspection.

I left a stripe of tape down the middle to seperate.

After application, I can't tell a difference between the two visually (As to be expected on my light silver car).

I will report back on beading over the next couple months with pictures!!! :)

Same here:thumb: I am a huge fan of FMJ however I did go and order some JS 109 a few months back. The first thing I noticed between the two is that bugs are harder to come off my bumper with JS 109 as my sealant. With FMJ applied, all I have to do is squirt the front end off with my hose and they come right off. Secondly, I believe FMJ offers a much more noticable difference in slickness.

Don't forget to wipe the Menz side down with High Gloss Acrylic Shield every 2 or 3 weeks. The FMJ and HGAS work as a system. Using the HGAS will add 2 months easily to the tight beading. I have videos of foam not being able to stick to a car after 6 months of FMJ and HGAS.

Well, that doesn't seem quite fair! :) I'm going for a pure, apples to apples longevity test.

I will be doing my standard washes with Adams soap followed by an Adams QD wipe down.

Plus I don' thave any HGAS...

for a while it seemed that everyone was on the js109 bus. I had long used FMJ and had liked it. That used to be my sealant that I used on customers' cars, followed by collinite. It was a good system. Now, as everyone who reads my s & s knows, I have switched to the DG twins of 601/105. The FMJ is a very slick product and I still have some..in fact I gave away a few ounces to a repeat customer this weekend. My money too would be on hte FMJ.

A lot of the waxes/sealants now have detail sprays that are part of a system, designed to work with the product applied initially. If Jetseal doesn't have such a product than fine, but I think the FMJ should be tested as it was meant to be used. Just my two cents.

I think both will be flat dead after 2-3 months if not topped with anything. FMJ lasted 1-2 months for me. Great slicknes, yes but it was gone after 2 washes.

If topped what's the max life?

I agree with Porta....the hype on JS109 was good so I grabbed some....lasted about 6 weeks tops and was dying... beading was fading fast....and paint felt grabby also..signs of of it dissipating..

FMJ was about the same..but had a slicker finish than JS....but very short lived....

little story....I got a 4oz sample of FMJ 2 years ago....I have test panels I use to try stuff on....I used FMJ on one side of the hood..and a 3M product on the other side...I think it was performance finish not sure...the panel sits on saw horses in the yard and is exposed to sun..rain and sprinklers...well the 3m product blew away the FMJ...the water rolled off the 3M product after 2 months of exposure and the FMJ was pooling water...like it was dead paint....

the 3M side also retained a higher gloss level and felt smooth....

also no washing of the panels and NO QD's....

I've noticed that Jetseal is more of a durable glaze, not so much of a sealant. It is a kind of product you want to top off with carnauba wax. It does an excellent job on wheels though, I've noticed 6-8 week durability from it on wheels...

JS was advertised as a super sealant....Now if just lasts 6-8 weeks on wheels...which do not get hammered as much with UV..pounding rain....envioro fallout...how long does it last on paint that gets heat from sun....direct rain......fallout....and wheels do not get hot unless you track them or tow and do heavy braking....

When it first came out the boasted 6 months protection.....superior shine and protection....it never proved it to me.....and i talked to the chemist at DG and was told using a heavy solvent based wax will indeed compromise a sealant on paint....some use Naphta..mineral spirits..

the waxes using Natural thinners like botanical oils are ok....but ones like collinite (which I love) uses heavy solvents...eespeacialy IW 845

take some mineral spirits..damp a cloth...wipe a sealant topped paint....then wash it..observe it during a rain..tou will see a different reaction to that area as rain hits it..the sealant was compromised....

some of the wax makers here can chime in on what they use for a solvent..maybe....
