The main differences are their respective uses. The Powermax series is mainly for industrial type cleaning, ( buses, taxis, semis etc) with the exception of 2 and 3 which are for passenger cars. I used 2 for years and about a year ago switched to 3 as it was a bit less expensive and, even with the SUVs I do, would still get the job done. The 3 dries a little faster as it doesn't have the same detergents in it ( the less detergents, the faster a product will dry as there is more water in it) but have had no issues with it even when allowing it to dry on paint. You can get it from me. Powermax 2 is essentially the same as Engine and Machine Cleaner. Powermax 3 is only available in gallons and I'm working on pricing for it.
I have tried Powermax 3 and i love it...dont hesitate to buy it from Ken, he would be the premier source for it...i went the other route before he opened up for business...was a tad difficult.
I have been using powermax 3 for a year and love it. Still had 15L of stock since it is good and cost effective. Usually dilute 4:1 for wheels, 7:1 or some times 4:1 for door shuts.. Manufac recommend to dilute 7:1 for interior but i find it abit sticky and too harsh..
I agree. Keep it for exteriors as the detergents in it need a good rinse after using. Use Porboys APC or Autoglym Interior Shampoo for interior plastics and vinyl.
I use like 1-1.5oz per gallon of Optimum Power Clean for interiors. I fill a bucket with 3 gallons of water, and throw in a couple splashes of OPC. Then I dip a MF in the bucket, wring out the excess, and wipe down the interior. I also have a rinse bucket to rinse the soil out of the MF before returning to the wash bucket. So, I guess I use a modified 2 BM for interiors This Powermax 3 is a competitor with OPC/P21s TAW right?
Yeah Pete I use the same for my interior (when I had a car) but with Megs APC green. I was stunned at how much crap I pulled off the panels, and embarassed.
Sorry for bumping this old thread, so Powermax 2 stronger than Powermax 3? Also is the Powermax car wash safe for LSP or too strong for it?
It is quite a strong alkaline cleaner so it depends on how you dilute it. imo, not a good choice for regular maintenance and if 'preserving' Lsp is a concern, should just stick to car shampoo to keep it simple. I used powermax 3 alot from cleaning exterior plastic, wheels, all the shuts with different dilution ratio. If the car has lots of tar spot then it will be my go to 'shampoo'..
So the Powermax products would be a good APC/degreaser for engines and wheels, lower body road grime and tar. THANKS!
I used PMax2 for years and lately switched to PMax3 as it does the same job but isn't as strong. Great or engines, jambs, inner fenders etc. You'll need a separate product for road tar. I'll look into pricing again. Sorry for the delay.
