DISCLAIMER: THIS IS BASED OFF PERSONAL OPINION AND IN NO WAY REFLECTS THE NATURE OF THE PRODUCT IN EVERY SITUATION. Product Name Gloss-It Signature Wheel Gel Price $20 Size 22oz Amount used during application About 5 sprays per rim. Reference pic. This was after two separate applications per rim, so a total of 8 wheels you could say. I filled it up to the ridge in the middle of the "neck" on the bottle, and you can see where it's at now. A little really does go a long ways. Dilution ratios 1:1 for Super Cleaning 2:1 For Medium 3:1 for Mild 4:1 for "ok" (I assume ) Lable appearance Much like all GI products, Rich spends A LOT of time designing the labels, and this is no different. On all the products they are BEAUTIFUL. On the back explains dilution ratios, etc. Though I think the dilution ratios are a bit misleading (will get in to it later on). Directions or Application process Spray the wheel down to get all loose sediment and brake dust off the rim. Spray several sprays to be sure the gel has covered the entire rim and let dwell for a few minutes. Agitate, and rinse off. Ease of use Ease of use would be VERY easy. It doesn't take much to spray this stuff because you dilute it (I did 1:1) so it's not heavy. Call me weak, but I find when using P21S Wheel Gel on really bad rims, by the 3rd rim, I have to switch hads because my fingers cramp up because the gel is so thick! With the Gloss-It stuff, it's VERY easy to spray.. and no tired fingers!! Smell / Scent Upon initial smell of the product.. smelled a lot like P21S, but the P21S had more citrus smell to it. Then when I sprayed it on the wheel.. it went down hill from there. I'm sorry Rich, but this stuff smells like ROTTEN EGGS. Thank god I had P21S TAW and it's lovely orange scent dwelling on the tires/wheel wells to help mask the scent. It's quite awful. Consistency Very gel-y out of the bottle, but once diluted down, becomes watery and easy to use. Cleaning Ability At first I was a little unimpressed by the cleaning abilities. But then I realized what I was working on: a hammered wheel that not even Tardis could take some of the stuff off. Once I got passed that, I'd say it's on par with Wheel Gel, but only when diluted 1:1, which makes it more expensive than Wheel Gel. On the other dilution levels, I wasn't able to get nearly enough cleaning power out of the gel. The reason I think the dilution ratios are misleading is I found it only to clean good when diluted 1:1. I'm still in the process of doing more testing, but so far all of the other ones don't seem to stand up to P21S, which I will turn to more often than not since I have 5L of it. Before, During, and Afters: Suds Not as suds-y as P21S. But sometimes that's a good thing.. as I can spend 5 minutes rinsing a wheel trying to get rid of all the P21S suds! PH Balanced!! Pros Just as good as P21S in most cases. Diluteable! Cons Smell, and Price. Overall Comments The smell was a huge disappointment for me. I still plan on using this, and plan to oder 3 more bottles, and just have either a mask with me, or have another cleaner on stand by for wheel wells and tires to help mask the smell. Otherwise, it's VERY good product, but a little on the pricy side. Rating 1-5 (5 being the best) 4.5 (only because of smell and price). :thumb: Aaron
Thanks for the review Aaron. I found when using the Gloss-it straight it 1. is almost impossible to spray when its 3 degrees out and not diluted and 2. when using it straight it performs as well if not better than p21S. When I tested it, the Glossit cleaner cleaned the brake caliper whereas the P21S didn't even touch the caliper on its side. I did want to point out one more thing . You mentioned that the Gloss-it was more expensive than P21S when in fact its not. The Gloss-it is $20 for 22oz or .90 oz straight and .45 oz when diluted 1:1. P21S is $18 for 16.9 oz or 1.12 oz. Even when buying 5litres, it is still .64 oz.
Thanks for the numerical facts Ken! Hmm, guess I'll have to grab some P21S Wheel Gel so I can compare it to the GI Wheel Gel and the CG prototype I'm working with. Let's see who comes out on top! :giggle:
dang another wheel cleaner i have to try so far i am very very pleased with P21S Gel and CG sticky gel
Actually, Ken.. Looking at DD. It's $22 for 33oz (1000ml) of P21s. That's only $2 more than gloss-it for 11 more oz. So P21S is A LOT cheaper, especially if you aren't diluting GI. http://www.detailersdomain.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=28 I can see that Gloss-It would clean EVEN BETTER not diluted at all.. And you're only saying it's better than p21s when STRAIGHT, which in fact per your facts it'd be more expensive than p21s. I found it to perform on par with p21s at 1:1, but if it's going to cost me $.3/oz more to have gloss-it I dunno if it's worth it
You are correct, using it straight as I suggested would make it more expensive than P21S. Using it 1:1 as you were would make it .45 oz, which makes it cheaper than P21S for anyone who is paying retail for P21S Gel. Either way, they both work good as far as I'm concerned. It comes down to personal preference.
I will hold my tongue on this one and let the pictures do the talking... Here is a car I did 2 days ago. Very neglected BMW wheels, lots of caked on brake dust and grime. The wheels were cleaned using the Gloss It wheel gel at the RECOMMENDED dilution ration of 1:1. After Start... Finish...
Looks good but Meg's Wheel Brightener still comes out as the cheapest, hehe. Oh and the CG Sticky Wheel Gel is even cheaper than P21S and GI. I'm glad I have the cheapest stuff that works just as great and if not better, haha.
I wouldnt use Megs WB on highly polished wheels or cars with delicate braking systems, it works so good because its acid based. The GI gel and P21s are non acidic which makes both safe for all wheel finishes and braking systems:applause2:
That's totally fine and all but Meg's WB is totally fine to use for all wheels if it is used properly. It's all in the hands of the user. :thumb:
Thanks for the review! Ive been itching to try this. I use P21s wheel gel and DetailersPride wheel gel (32oz for 20 Can compared to 16oz of P21s for the same price), but Ive been looking for more cut. Have you used P21s Red? Curious how it compares to Gloss It WG...
