I've been salivating over a DSLR for a while now. Since the 14th is my birthday and I'm still waiting for my builder to call me and tell me my motor is ready I said what the heck and bought a Nikon D60. I bought the kit that came with the 18-55 lens and picked up the 55-200 lens for $100 extra. I got out of the camera store spending $752. I also picked up two UV filters, and a screen protector while I was at the camera store. I'll post pictures of the new set up later today. I must say with the few pictures I've taken so far I've taken a huge step from my point and shoot. I registered for a class to teach me about the features of this camera. I think I'll need it...LOL
Congrats! I'm wondering about that 55-200 lens you purchased for $100 more... is it any good? I'm wondering if it's the same lens that got bad reviews. Anyway, be sure to get some lens hoods, a tripod and a nifty bag. I purchase a LowePro myself!
Congratulations, im going to be doing the same thing here real soon..im excited. Please let us know the ease of transition from your P&S
Pics or BAN NAO!!!! MOAR PICS!!! :chillpill: Ok, whew... yeah, hurry up and get some pics up.... I've been anxious to see what the new setup has turned out looking like.... But hey... its only a goat and a common V8
Congrats on the camera, I can't wait to see some pictures real soon. I to am about to do the same thing with upgrading my old P&S to the nikon D90. Everyday i browse the internet to try to find the best deal. It is only a matter of time before I tull the trigger. Im sure seeing your posts now will really put me over the edge.
To be quite honest even if the lens is bad, I can't tell at this point because it's such a drastic improvement over what I've been using. I'm looking at the LowePro Slingshot. For right now it seems to be the perfect bag for me. I'll pick up a couple of hoods when I go take my class this Saturday. Cooter: Thank you for the birthday wishes.
Congrats on the purchase :applause: You'll be very pleased with your purchase and you taking some photography classes is the best way to go, you'll be amazed at how technical photography can be...well at least I am, it's lots of fun though...and like detailing it's so darn adicting...but you should try to learn with what you have, once you have outgrown what you currently have and want to venture out more that's when you start purchasing a few things. Oh a tripod is always good to have :thumb:
Took these yesterday at my son's wrestling practice. He's wearing the black shirt: I'm looking forward to Saturday, because I know this camera can take much better pictures...LOL
Not bad Shauna, what mode were you shooting at for these pics? It looks like your shutter speed was a little on the slow side.
I used one of the presets. Need to take a quick look through the owners manual to see how to change the shutter speed.
You'll understand what I mean when you take the class, hehe. The higher shutter speed would allow your picture to "freeze" the shot so that there is no motion-blur or it's at least minimized. It all depends on what kind of shot you're aiming for. :thumb:
I took these yesterday after the D60 class. This is my niece. She's 6 months old now. I just noticed in the first picture there's a bit of red in her eyes. That's actually my uncle's shirt. Wow amazing how much detail this camera can capture.
