That is just absolutely amazing work :applause::applause::applause: How long did it take you to do this job?
Looks amazing! What was the reason for wetsanding twice? I'm going to be wetsanding my vehicle in a couple weeks to get rid of the orange peel. Just going to be using 3M Wet/Dry 2000 grit sandpaper and want to make sure I'm going to be able to finish the job properly without an air sander.
Thanks a lot you guys! Thank you Me and the owner of the car used about 4 long days + on this detail. Thanks The reason for using a air sander after sanding by hand, was because the sanding finish looked smoother.. It turned out to be completely different.. After buffing, I noticed a LOT of pigtails with my sungun.. Had to buff each panel 2-4 times each to get rid of them. With normal sanding marks, I only have to buff each panel once. I'll never use a air sander again, it won't "cut" the paint straight like sanding by hand does either.
Vehicle looks great well done, I enjoyed all the pictures ocorn: I really like that last picture, the lights reflecting back look good :cheerl: As for the air tool, well I'm no expert but the air tools have a learning curve, I'm currently going through that my self. They work great but it's taking me a bit to use them properly just my :2cents:
Im impressed! Im thinking about trying to buy one! We have a mk2 in the backyard but I would rather want one that is in pretty pristine condition. Great job!
Thanks! Have you been able to use the air sander, without leaving deep pig tails to the paint, Carlos?
 I have now, took me a wile to get it to work properly but finally got it. What I was doing wrong, well several things I was doing wrong. First I used the sander and the compressor I connected it to had too high of CFM...I didn't realize too much CFM was a bad thing, it worked well but it left pigtails that I had to follow up with 4000 grit by hand to remove them. Well that was one experience, then I used a different compressor, smaller compressor with lower CFM which I thought had the appropriate rating for the sander and I was still getting pig tails..well long story short the CFM rating was not right again...the point that I'm trying to make is that it comes down to the CFM rating oh and another thing I didn't realize is that the sander them selves have a little shutoff valve where you can adjust the air coming in...I'm no expert on the sanders but after using a variety of compressors and playing around with the sander I finally got it to finish off with out any pigtails....took a wile though to be honest and it can be a bit frustrating. Now I haven't purchased a compressor my self just yet but the key is to match the CFM rating with a compressor. What size of compressor are you using with the sander? Like I said though I'm no expert, just my trial and error hope it helps.
